Tatula FYI
My Tatula showed up today, couldn't wait to get home and take it apart. First off there's no spool bearing just a pinion bearing which looks like the standard 8x12x3.5, didn't pull it so I can't confirm that but it looks like that size to me. The bearing on the non-handle side is a 3x10x4 and the be...

Re: Daiwa's New Workhorse Has Thoroughbred Tendencies : Tatu
Are you worried about weight ? Mind if i ask where you usually get your bearings? Not at all. Light weight is great but it's not the end all to be all, Zillions are heavier and are still one of the best reels around. I get most of my smaller bearings (4x7x2.5 and 5x8x2.5) from hobby shops. They usu...

Re: Daiwa's New Workhorse Has Thoroughbred Tendencies : Tatu
Got mine from TW today. I'm just about to pull it apart and add four bearing. Interestingly no bearing on the spool, big change for Daiwa. Don't remember the review talking about it not have the standard Daiwa speed spool design, maybe I missed.

Re: wavespin
My dad has three of them and he's never lost any line from a loop going on four years. I works loops go to the bottom of the teeth and can't be casted off. Distance kind of sucks but it's worth not having to pick out knots for him. The one time he had an issue with one of them they overnighted him a...

Perfect reel for that crankbait, you need a strong reel there a beast to crank all day.Gone Phishin wrote:Very cool indeed. How do you like the Pluton for those big cranks?

13lbs 10oz Pike
Caught a monster pike this morning on a LC SKT 120 Mag DR. Combo was a homemade swimbait rod built on a MHX SWB967-Blend blank and a tuned up Daiwa Pluton. I'm loving this bait!!!!!!

I like the choppers, stand up well to smallies. 4" is my go to for river fishing for smallies.
