Re: Loomis 822 drop shot vs. Mudhole MHX High Mod 822
I haven't fished either of the ones you listed, but I did build a DS on a Batson xsb822.5 that is amazing. Search the various forums such as RBO, and you'll see the Batson RX8 & RX8+ are pretty sweet blanks and they have a huge following. What type of guides are you going to use?

Re: Seeking custom spinning rod handle pics
This is a Batson XP840 crappie rod for a guy. He wanted flames and rattlesnake skin. I ended up going with TiCh minima 4 guides on it. Grip was roughly 9".

Re: Frog and topwater/jerkbait blank recommendations
Go to rodbuilding.org and search for "frog rod" there is a lot of info on the castaway blanks for a frog rod. Between this site and the other, I can usually find what I'm looking for. I just built a deep cranker on a castaway blank for a guy. He's using it this weekend for the first time. It's the 9...

Re: Suggesttions and Setup for Deep Cranker
With the way that a deep crank is fished and the fish fought, with the tip down, do you locate the spine with the guides on top like normal, or do you reverse that with a cranking rod?

Re: Suggesttions and Setup for Deep Cranker
I need one for deep ledge cranking on ky lake, looking at 20"+, using d22s and whatnot. I also need a rod that has enough umph to rip through grass when the occassion arises. i would prefer 8' length in order to get the max depth possible. I like the powell max 806cb and the kvd tour 7'10" cb rod, s...

Re: Guide Setups
Gotcha. What I'm trying to do is get a thread where people that are new to building like myself can refer to for a general idea. So when responding, try to include as much information as possible even if I have not asked it. General Setups for the following (include guide size that you use, number o...

Suggesttions and Setup for Deep Cranker
It sucks we just lost the last two years. There were a lot of good discussions regarding deep crankers. Nonetheless, I am finishing up a finess rx8 xsb 822.5 and am moving on to a deep cranker. Any advice on setup and blank? Also, what are y'all's thoughts on spiral wrapping a cranking rod?
Thanks
