Re: any cheap ways to upgrade the mgx?
If it's a 50e and you use it for light baits, OS 7s will make a dramatic difference. Really happy with my 50e after installing OS 7s. Also if this is your first bearing upgrade and you don't have a spool pin tool, the 50e is super easy to replace bearings.

Re: How often do you guys fish?!?
Well as I tell my girlfriend when I head to the lake/river, "those fish ain't gonna catch themselves!" That being said....I fish a lot. Since I am a college student I have the luxury of a lax schedule right now, but I know this won't last so I take every opportunity possible. This is usually 4+ days...

Re: Fenwick HMG
I had or I should say have a 7' Med. HMG. After fishing hard for about three months the rod broke just above the first eye from the reel. I went through the warranty process and received another rod. About a month later the rod broke, but much closer to the tip this time. Honestly, besides breaking ...

Re: Abu Garcia Revo Premier
I keep hearing people saying that premiers are very susceptible to boat rash, I would say they are more susceptible to fisherman rash. I have been fishing a premier for a year with at least 60 days on the water and my reel looks near mint. I say near because the fake chrome plastic piece under the l...
Re: Revo SX
I am a little wary of the SX. My buddy bought one about six months ago and after playing with the brakes and spool tension we still could not get it to cast without heavy thumbing as if either the spool is too heavy or there is not enough magnets in the braking system. I posted a thread on the reel ...

Re: Working on Reels - Tips!
I remove E-clips by putting one edge of a 3/16" flat (and thin) screwdriver in an opening of the clip, and work the rest of the tip like a lever across the shaft, pin etc. it is attached to. If you go slow and work at the correct angle (almost straight down on it), it will come right off without mu...

Simply amazing, I believe I saw his story a year or so ago in a Bassmaster mag and I still can't believe it.

Re: longer casts with my baitcasting reel
Garriga, do you cast wit both hands or just one? Do you thumb the line or the edge of the spool? Can you pitch well? I practiced pitching and it improved my casting abilities significantly. It teaches you how to control the spool better than anything else IMHO. Try it out and keep practicing. I was...

Anyone throwing these baits? I really haven't heard too much about these baits, but got the chance to pick up a couple on clearance at Gandar Mountain for $4.99 a pop. All I knew about these baits it that they usually retail for $17.99, so I thought I'd get them a try given the discount. I picked up...

For me Yum Dingers have always produced more fish than the original Senko, which is fine with given their much less expensive.

Re: I just realized!
I became a fishing minimalist a couple of years ago after one of my worst fishing seasons in memory. A crushing heat wave didn't help matters, but I had got into the habit of tying on new baits too often without stopping to think about what I was doing. That winter, I cleared out my tackle bags and...
