Re: New Meets Old
That is one of the coolest things i have ever seen. How much does that reel seat weigh? The major problem with this type of handle is the weight. This one was cast aluminum, and at this point it weighed 5.4 oz. I removed some of the shaft, slimmed the forend, and drilled holes in the reel seat. Thi...

Re: Post Your weirdest catch ever
the pike i had just lost my sammy to. consecutive casts. awesome. After fighting a pike on my dropshot rod and having the hook bitten off just before I could get a look at the fish my slip bobber tipped with a 5" sucker darts under the water. I set the hook, reel her in, and to my supprise A 29" pi...
Re: CH50E ??
I have the 50E, which I really like. If your throwing light stuff Boca 7s are well worth the price ($30), and super easy to change on the 50E. Otherwise great little reel. I use mine mainly for senkos and other lightly weighted or weightless Texas rigs. If you don't want to buy Boca's then flush the...

Re: New Meets Old
That would be perfect with micro guides! 8-) 8-) That it would. It would be awesome if some modern rods were built this way using modern components for the reel seat. I would think that recessing the reel seat and bringing the line guide of the reel inline with the guides may result in a longer cast.

Re: Pflueger anti-reverse problems in the cold....
I have had this happen with a pflueger president in 15 degree weather. The reel is fine in warmer weather and I suspect the problem lies with an overlubed A/R bearing, althoughI haven't cleaned it too check. I got to thinking though and does anyone think its possible that the sleeve that contacts th...

Re: Spinnerbaits?
I have used nearly all the spinnerbaits mentioned and I believe that one of the most innovative high-quality spinnerbaits to be released in a long time are the advantage spinnerbaits. TT just did a review of them, which reminded me of how much I like em. Beware though these are high quality spinnerb...

Re: Stradic CI4 Microline
Thanks for the confirmation. Looks like I'll try the 1000ML. Even if I don't like the mirco braid I can always buy a regular CI4 1000 spool it guess.

Re: Stradic CI4 Microline
Does anyone know if the regular stradic CI4 1000 spool will fit on the 1000ML? That would be nice because you could have one spool for 3-5lb braid and another with 6lb mono.

Re: Stradic CI4 Microline
Thanks Rick. That's pretty much what I gathered from an ICAST video, just wanted to confirm that those were the only differences. Also, do you plan on using a leader with that 5lb power pro or running straight?

Stradic CI4 Microline
Anyone have one of these reels? I really haven't heard much about them, but I am think about getting one. A while back I was looking for a walleye reel, but I ended up picking up two rods when I found a sick deal. One those rods was a shimano crucial 6'6" M that I intended to use for walleye jigging...

Re: What braid for Chonarch 50E
ALOT of people fish with power pro, so my opinion might not sit well with some- but personally... Ive noticed power pro has really gone down in quality. Once walmart got a hold of it, it just seems like it isn't the same anymore. I used to love it, now I wouldn't fish it if it was free. It might so...

Re: Addition of a bearing
If you can't find the bearing size you can always buy a cheap digital caliper from fleabay. I think I paid $15.00 for mine and it has come in handy for many projects. Also for there price they are actually descent quality. I have compared mine to my dads $100+ caliper and it yields the same measurem...

Booyah 1/8oz bucktail spinner bait and the mepps basskiller 1/8oz? spinner bait with adjustable blade. These are both hair skirt spinner baits and hands down the best tough bite spinner baits I have ever used.

Re: dobyns or ducket micro
I think the duckett rods are pretty nice at their price point and imho they don't feel cheap. I should add that I own the 6'9" mh and the tip is definitly softer than I am used too, not necessarily a bad thing, just suited for different baits. So far mine has been very durable and served me well.

Re: Microguide Baitcasting Rods -- Pros and Cons ??
Fred - you bring up an excellent point regarding micros. A custom builder will place the first guide so the line runs right into it. Sometimes, that means the guide is 20-24" from the face of the reel. Most factory rods with micros will place the guide closer than that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but...
