Re: Casting reel for the inexperienced
My wife had no fishing experience, other than a few worm-n-bobber stuff as a kid, and I was able to get her to the point of making reasonable casts with few backlash issues in maybe 3-4 hours of instruction. I set her up with a Alphas SV loaded with 12lb Sniper on a 782c glx. For a lure, I gave her ...

Re: Daiwa Alphas Air TW 2020
Concur with HWK above, the alphas air tw is a step up over the ASC. [ Go with the AIR TW. Definitely the better reel. I have extensively used both and I much prefer the AIR TW. AIR TW is better in everyway except cosmetics. Not what I hoped to hear, but thanks. I wish I had jumped on the Air TW bac...

Re: JDM frog rod for moderate cover?
Looking to stay under 7'1" length, and get a rod that isn't a broom stick. At the end of 2019 I picked up a Daiwa BLX LG 631MHFB-FR . Capture.JPG It fished like a sawed-off and a little slower 844c GLX and while it's not as sensitive, it's up there. It's not a traditional Heavy frog rod at all, but...

Re: Pixy Secret
a little better behaved Hah, I would say it's the spiciest Pixy spool I have tried. It's not "wild", but it punishes me every time I get cocky and try to make some snazzy one-handed cast at the edge of my ability. It's a caster for sure though, I have mine in an Airy Red Pixzilla on a p3 Criffhange...

Re: Daiwa Alphas Air TW 2020
Can anyone compare the Air TW with the Air Stream Custom? I am looking to pick up a reel for use with 6lb Supernatural and lures in the 1/16-3/16oz range. It will be mostly freshwater fishing but a little use in brackish rivers for perch, so I was leaning towards the Air TW, but can't find much info...

This one fits the bill I believe! RSC-611XMH Grand Cobra RS Grand Cobra RS concept Overwhelming lightness due to the special setting, sensitized sharpness, but T1100G 100% blanks power that is not lost. Grand Cobra RS Using 100% of high-strength, high-modulus carbon "Treca ® T1100G", which is an in...

Re: MB Hyuga 72H/Super Red Demon, what rod sits in between?
There are other Evergreen rods from the Kaleido and Phase series you may want to consider as well I have been trying to find some info on Evergreen but even stuff like the basic hierarchy of their various lines is hard to come by. I can figure out a little bit by reading their site, but as always t...

Re: MB Hyuga 72H/Super Red Demon, what rod sits in between?
You realize these are really two different rods, right? For the glides and wakes, you want something more moderate for the treble hooks/moving baits, but for the single hook, you want something fast like a rod for jigs. I know, but so far I have had great luck using both those rods for both singles...

MB Hyuga 72H/Super Red Demon, what rod sits in between?
Right now my heaviest two rods are the pair in the title. My most thrown "big bait" is a Optium BoomBoom on a 8/0oz Beast hook, weighing in at like 1.5oz total. Both rods will cast and fish this presentations, but neither is ideal. The 72H is a little slow for such a thick hook, I have caught dozens...

Re: Not Afraid of Contact - The Jackall Chubble Minnow Shaped Squarebill
I have been using the Chubble for a year or so now, it’s one of the few cranks I do use. I got into them to fish over the top of the hydrilla fields that a lot of my local ponds fill up with in the summer. They work excellently for that, the 2-3’ running depth is usually perfect for just skimming th...
Re: EWG hooks
With a 5" Senko, for reasons I cannot figure out, a 3/0 or 4/0 Gammie EWG gives by far the most consistent hooks sets for me. I keep trying to make Owner Twistlocks to work, but I end up missing so many bass with them compared to the Gammie EWGs.

Re: Do you want Daiwa to keep on using the T-Wing on everything they release?
The more I use t-wing reels, the more I am coming to believe that they do improve pitching distance and ease. I do a lot of pitching across a wide range of presentations weights and it it seems like it can make a pretty noticeable benefit for lighter stuff. I am waiting on a P5 Hein and kinda think ...

Re: Dobyns Sierra Ultra Finesse Casting Rods
Keeping the handle short too. Yes please, the short handle makes the 7'4" feel like a much shorter rod. I have gotten maybe a dozen hours in with it so far and I am really liking it. The solid tip really limites what I want to do with it, but when I find something that I like it for, I really like ...

Re: Reinforcing existing jigs/spinnerbaits with hand tie
Yep, everything with a skirt gets a wire reinforcement. I use the same wire I tie jigs with and use the same process, take a 3" long piece, wrap twice around the head/skirt, trist tight, trim and tuck. I really like those tiny Booyah spinnerbait but the skirts one them are awful, learning how to rei...

Re: Plastic broken piece inside SV Spool
In addition to the DIY/Ray's inductor, the inductor/spring from a stock Alphas SV spool also works well in a sv103 spool. You can then take the sv103 inductor assembly and install it into the Alphas SV spool. It really helps tame it down at the cost of a very small amount of distance. I use Alphas o...
