Re: What's next for Shimano???

I am patiently waiting on an update to the Core series. The 100 MG7 and 50 MG7 were a couple of my all time favorites. I would be a fan of them following what daiwa has done with the Steez. Give us magnesium and aluminum options for the Core. Brass gearing in both with 6,7,8 ratios. I would also lik...

What are your opinions of the newer hawgtech versus the ZPI?

Re: Carbon Fiber handle....Metanium

I tried to get the Zpi one at the tackle trap. They were sold out of the gunmetal one. They were also not sure they were going to be able to get anymore.

Carbon Fiber handle....Metanium

Looking at putting a carbon fiber handle on a Metanium mgl. What kind of options are out there? Looking at around a 90 mm size. I have been looking at the zpi 92 in the gunmetal color and also the hawgtech 90 mm. Thoughts on these two? Going to keep the stock shimano knobs on new handle. What other ...

Metanium MGL gear swap

Looking for feedback from those of you that have swapped gears in your met mgl to the curado K grass gears. Thinking of going that direction on an 8 gear MGL and wanting to know if it is worth the hassle and cost? Good and bad feedback appreciated.

Will the Steez SV TW in the 8 gear be coming to the US market?

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

What are the chances we will see an update to the Zillion? New frame and get that brake dial recessed!

Re: Daiwa SLP/RCS Knobs?

Makes sense and I’m glad to hear they have the same basic shape. I’m still not a huge fan of the paddle style knobs on the Steez A or the thinner/flatter knobs on the SV TW. I think I may go with a set of the high grips for the Steez A. I’m very interested in seeing what others have done to upgrade ...

Daiwa SLP/RCS Knobs?

Looking at some of the RCS/SLP knobs. What are the differences between the Super High Grip S knobs and the I shape cork S knobs? I have a pair of the I shape knobs in red on a daiwa Steez SV TW. I am looking at the Super High Grip ones in black for a Steez A.

Re: Steez A spool options?

Sounds like the Steez A crazy cranker will be in my future. I currently have 2 A’s in 7 gear. I have 2 SV TW a 7 gear and 6 gear. I have not experienced any issues with any of them. As mentioned earlier, I would like to see an upgraded Zillion (brass gears) where the palm side dial is hidden like th...

Re: Steez A spool options?

This is an interesting topic on gears because I am interested in the crazy cranker Steez A. I have not pulled the trigger due to my concerns over deep cranking with aluminum gears. Does anybody have any time on the crazy cranker A? My thoughts were to maybe go with the JDM Zillion SV TW 5 gear. I th...

Re: Steez A spool options?

I put the spool from the Zillion SV in the Steez A and was quite happy with the performance. I also placed a 90 mm carbon fiber handle with the I shaped knobs on. Lightens up the reel a bit as well. For what I am looking to do with the Steez A this is a pretty sweet set up.

Re: Steez A spool options?

Very good information in this thread! Thanks for all that have replied. I actually have a zillion Sv tw and will stick that spool in for a test drive. I am also hoping to lighten up the reel a bit with a carbon handle and rcs knobs. Less line on the SV spool will help a little with that project as w...
