Re: Favorite artificial lures/ baits for mountain trout (UL)
CD5 in the various trout patterns. Don't be shy, even smaller 6" brookies love them. Brook trout will try to fit anything into their mouths. I remember spooking a frog into the stream and a brook trout came up and crushed it. The frog swam off but, the brook trout took it under. That frog was WAY t...

Re: Aftermarket Cast Control Cap for a TD Fuego
I don't know which threads those have. I think its the same as the Steez, TD Zillion, T3 ect from that era. Those make use of a clicker that also acts as a retainer. Without it the knobs will back off. I have one on my old Tatula HD which uses the same threads but no provision for a clicker. Its al...

Aftermarket Cast Control Cap for a TD Fuego
The stock chrome colored metal CCC on the TD Fuego baitcasting reel is heavy and not very attractive. It weighs 3.5 grams compared to the 1.1g of the older TD-X reels that have the same size CCC cap that is champagne colored aluminum. I measured the threads at about 10.8 mm on my digital micrometer....

Re: What's Big to You? Talking about the Size of Bass
I live in West Central Florida and I don't think that I have ever caught a double digit LM Bass. This LM is probably my largest and it's big to me. I have pics of others around this size but this one is probably the biggest. I don't carry a scale and I have never weighed a bass in my life. For refe...

Re: Wife has found me out
Nobody should question a grown man that brings home the bacon. That's one of the reasons that I ditched the ex-wife and I found a millionaire ex-model that buys me anything fishing or cycling that I want! Problem solved. 8-) Your results may vary :big grin: So it was you that snatched Giselle...

Western finesse legend Don Iovino would be proud of you. He loves those reels and has sold parts over the years. They feel really smooth and solid, but my small hands love a lower profile reel.

Re: Free rigging a wacky worm
Just like the fishing pressure in Japan, the clearwater golf course lakes all around me get beat to death. You constantly have to evolve to get bit. A lot of times, it is really just about giving them something different to see, like was said. The free rig works well with my fishing slow baits fast...

Re: Luck or Skill?
The fish don't know who is casting to them, or even that they are being messed with a lot of times. Like you proved, your skill over a beginning angler is going to make you much more likely to put the bait in the right places and catch more fish, but any cast might catch a monster. What really pisse...

Re: What's Big to You? Talking about the Size of Bass
It is always relative to where and how you fish. Here in SoCal you have tiny reservoirs and huge fishing pressure, but the area has the weather to grow them as big as anywhere. The late winter and spring time brings out the 30 pound plus limits. People don't even bat an eyelash at anything under 7. ...

Re: Frog perfection
I still haven't found a hollow body frog I like better than the Reaction Innovations Swamp Donkey. The Megabass Big Gabot has its place for sure, but if I'm throwing a hollow body, my confidence bait is the SD! Good to have options for sure! The Swamp Donkey colors are good. There are a lot of guys...

Re: What’s the craziest topwater blowup you’ve had?
I've had fish eat my lure in mid air three times. Once off of a tule, and also once off of a bush. The best strike was when I watched a fish in ultra clear water at night shark the surface following a black jig that had been casted to the back of a pocket underneath a floodlight. The fish caught the...
