Re: When did we agree to spend so much?

Has anyone ever thought about when and why we decided to invest in tackle rather than just getting rods and reels that did the job? I remember when i first started fishing 3 years ago, my appetite for spending money on fishing was pretty low. I spent 20 bucks on a combo at walmart and three fishing...

I was so amazed that I didn´t notice something, both combos would be perfect if the handles of them reels weren´t in the wrong side.

Re: The Darkside

Well, let´s look at it this way, hookers, drinks and cuban cigars are more expensive, much worse for your health and a lot more ephimeral so I see nothing wrong about blowing a few grand in tackle.

Re: Round Reel cover

Not the exact image but similar to this one, for that reel you need the small size ( not the BC size ).

Re: Round Reel cover

Shimano makes round BC reel covers, not as pretty as Daiwa´s but still quite good.

Re: size comparo: shimano 2500 and daiwa 2000 & 2500

Thanks for posting up these pictures. Much appreciated. I definitely see what you mean about the sizing now. Now my only decision is 2000 or 2500?? Those Cabelas reels look really nice. What may sway the balance is the line capacity for certain lines, 2000 size reels are for lighter line ( 6-8 lb),...

Re: Tatula levelwind grooving

It must be quite a workout or extremely difficult to wrap a small towel ( and I´m being fancy here, your shirt sleeve is enough ) around your hand to protect it, wrap a couple of turns of line and pulling hard ( putting some testicles ) until the line breaks, hell, 12 lb FC isn´t exactly rope thick....

I have, not bad, a little bit fast when I begin cranking as usual but not too terrible.

Re: Is 5.1:1 really necessary anymore?

A low gear ratio reel is a tool, not something that you absolutely need to have, but if you are going to spend the day cranking, why not use the right tool for the job. A great tool for the other things that you mentioned as well. My response was more of how much really deep cranking do you do? If ...
