Re: Which reel?
I have also fished many different manufacturer's offerings and would be hard pressed to state that any one wins "hands down"...if you like the Shimanos, then Daiwa must also be included. And now, Abu is also getting back into the game as well. Once again, opinions will always vary, but actual accoun...

Re: For the Enthusiast Kids.
Is it just me or is every manufacturer/corporation trying to help American society in general just take the easy way out with everything? I am not talking about advancing any past time or sport with tools that make use of better materials, designs, engineering, etc., but tools that just take away th...

Re: Questions about daiwa Millionaire?
Agree with the Millionaire CVZ 203A or the JDM one as well. I have had several for about 8 years and have only replaced drag washers. Just keep in mind that the Lunas will have the external adjusting side plate for the Magforce control and slightly better handle knobs than on the American Market Mil...

Re: Interesting short read: Visit to Daiwa Headquarters/Manu
Each company has their idea of which direction to take in regards to design, engineering, marketing, etc...and both have had their Pinnacle accomplishments and not so great products. But overall, they are the two best available currently on the market...I love both for their various strengths and fi...

Re: is shimano calais a worth BC REEL TO BUY ?
The Calais 100/Antares AR is a very flexible reel that is exceptionally smooth, strong and durable. It does weigh a little more than some others but not to a point that it is bothersome. If you can swing one, it is a fantastic reel...my only minor gripe is that the gear ratio is only avail. in 5.8:1...

For a Loomis...CB847 would be my choice as well.
Good luck!

Re: SpinnerBait Setup
For a rod...try to stay with the longest lenght that you are comfortable with since you are looking to use 1/2-3/4oz...For me, in that range, I use a custom CB847 along with a CVZ203A for its cranking power. That being said, I have three different set ups for SB's depending on what type, weight and ...

You know...I am going to try and start anew... Fishing Fanboy...let me apologize for being too forward without knowing who you really are. Yeah, I did get rambunctious with my replies to your opinions...and well...you have a right to them. Whether I agree or not. Let me just say that I have some dis...

Re: lets have a line debate
Firstly, I do agree about the braid post to avoid line twist...otherwise to help keep it down to a minimum, use a snap swivel w/lures that tend to spin. Also, using a reel with a better spool design and line roller wouldn't hurt. And as far as the best non-twisting spinning line for me...Tectan's Pr...

Re: American Rodsmiths
Tried a couple of their 6'6" BC rods a few years back and compared them to All-Star T38x and T40X, GLoomis GL3 and IMX and Falcon Expert...long story short, I sent them back.
Good rods, but not good enough for the $$$ vs what is available out there, IMHO.

Re: Reels?
Tough to pick just one for both spinning and baitcast...but Daiwa first and if I was afforded a second pick, Shimano.

Re: TOPWATER FISHING....
Kudos for a well written and concise layout of how to use topwaters. I would like to add that a snap has always allowed me to work walkers better. Also, filing a slight groove low in the line tie area will help keep your knot from rising on the tie...thus allowing for easier spitting and control of ...

Hey Elvis, It was not YOUR POSTING but YOUR IDIOTIC REPLIES, that I am referring to. Your last reply stating that the previous poster suggested that the STEEZ is indeed inferior to Megabass or GLoomis (when in fact he was just writing a candid review of the rod) already gives you away in regards to ...

Re: interesting to hear...
This reel will throw a 1/4oz lure fine...just not with the best available out there. I feel this is more the weight/design of the spool than the reel itself.
For 3/8oz+ however...this reel is worth consideration.
