Re: Tatula Cranking Noise.
So, I just got a 5.4 Tatula. I thought it was odd how far the pinion gear pushed out of the frame (toward the spool). When I rotate the handle and apply light pressure to the spool, there is a weird noise, almost like a hum. The noise isn't as loud when I do not apply pressure to the spool. What co...

Re: the other 'daiwa death screw'
Good advice. In my trade (diesel engine tech) I learned a trick from an old timer years ago that's got me out of similar jams many times. When going to loosen a notoriously stubborn fastener of any type, apply a smidge of clockwise force ( as if you were trying to tighten it further) -- more often ...

Re: Daiwa Megabass gear compatability?
you will need the drive gears a and b, and the pinion gear, to put them into a td-z. the arrangement must change to mimic the arrangement of the steez drive gear stack

Re: SERVICING — Daiwa Zillion 100SH
Went through it, cleaned up some excess grease. There's some of that lovely black factory grease under the last key washer so that's not coming out without a fight. Probably still put the thin washer in upside down now that I think about it. It seems better, but still pulls out more than I'd like w...

Re: SERVICING — Daiwa Zillion 100SH
Hey, thanks for this. I'm struggling with low drag pressure on a Zillion right now and this is really helpful. I would look at the fiber washers to make sure they are not damaged or gunked up. Secondly inspect the metal washers for a super smooth surface. While a high polish on them will make it ex...

Re: Steez SV TW 1016SH
i'll have one waiting for me when i get home :D :D :D CAN'T WAIT!! Can't wait to see what you think of it. I am really liking it. I find the 80mm stock handle and new knobs awesome. Super grippy. I swap out almost all handles on reels but I am going to leave the Steez SV TW stock. i absolutely love...

Re: Any reason Steez EX seems to be more expensive
EX have the updated frame (Same as MB IS) with magnesium frame and side plate. the newer models have the zaion side plate but does have the sv spool. the EX also has a VERY durable finish. also, the zaion side plate isn't an issue with the newer reels, to me anyway....they feel fine; but the MG sid...

Got my first batch of tuned reels back from Ian and all I can say is WOW! Not only is Ian a fantastic tuning magician, but he is also great and knowledgeable person to deal with. I think that, going forward, I will send all my reels to Ian for service and I won't have to chase e-clips around my apa...
