Re: versatility vs tech specific

you could cover all those techniques with just the X4 Destruction ;) My thoughts exactly. That rod never ceases to amaze me at how versatile it is. It's the best 'all purpose' rod I could ever imagine. For me- it is my 'search for the one' rod. I think you got the right idea with it + black Eisel. ...

Re: Shimano Antares Deep Spool.

Handful on that auction site, $150-165. Don't know if that's overpriced or not. Let us know if you get it and how it performs. Thinking of upgrading my Calais asv with new anteres + deep spool for swimbaits. One of the things I'm waiting on is to see if the deep spool actually holds 100meters of 20l...

Re: Which Cumara reaction do I need

Fast or extra fast reaction rod? I didn't think they make reaction rods that fast. Anywho- the few guys I know who fish rattletraps religiously likes crankbait rods with slow actions. It is a crankbait with trebles after all. I know some of the dobyns team guys like the glass cb rods for traps, to g...

Re: Looking to Recapture the "LTA" Magic: Kistler's New Heli

If these had ti/sic guides, (or even stainless/sic guides) I wouldn't hesitate to try one. But at $250-$300, stainless/alconite doesn't cut it for me.
Good looking rod, and looks like they got everything else right though.

Re: Chronarch D7 or Metanium or Chronarch Ci14?

I still don't quite understand the fascination with the D7. It's an aluminum Core 100. It's comparable to a Zillion... a solid workhorse reel. If it were me I'd take the Met just for the new technology it brings to the table. The new gears and SVS are great. Rock solid and smooth as glass, feels mu...

black conquest/calcutta anodizing?

Mcyl posted this photo in show & tell thread. I can't stop thinking about a black conquest now. =P~ Does anyone know who performs this annodizing service? Does calpaint? Can't get the photo to load(file invalid wtf ](*,) ) here's link- http://forums.tackletour.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=53199&start=15...

Re: Whats in a 50 Reel

Great answers vinnieb729, way to sum it all up =D> I've been trying to decide the same thing for a finesse crank reel- get a core 50 and swap in brass gears, or go with scorpion 1000xt. I'm leaning towards the scorpion... :-k (definitely wins in the looks dept- that silver core is ugly, I'd have to ...

Re: Anatares & Metanium (USA)

I don't suppose those discounted price you mentioned are official JDM msrp price? Do compare apple to apples. Even with the discounted prices, your math is a bit flawed. You didn't factor in the paypal currency conversion rate difference or international transaction fee by credit card company, whic...

Re: New shimano releases

You can find them well below msrp from Japan. ...or you might wait a few weeks until November sales seasons, buy at 15-20% discount to MSRP, get the warranty and service/support, have an easy way to return merchandise, build a stronger buying relationship with your favored tackle reseller, and help...

I wouldn't go by that. Companies can be slow to adjust the prices on older reels once new ones come out. Same thing can be said for rods.

Re: Flagship

Id say the new anteres is the flagship. Newest technology, micro gears, etc. (It is however magnesium, so aluminum frame fans might see it as a negative.) Only reason I haven't got one is because... I can't figure out what I would use it for. Smaller swimbaits(with deep yumea spool) come to mind, bu...

Re: Metanium and Antares

Just to be clear....

On the tackletour story it says the MET has the same micro gears as the Anteres.
My understanding is the Mets gears are aluminum and the Anteres gears are brass. Is this correct?
