Re: Varivas Super Suspender SSR-610T
Thanks for the comments. Rod is very nice in many ways and I am sure my disappointment will fade over time - I may come to love it. I am mainly frustrated by the Xfast action, which I did not expect, and can easily live with the front heavy part (as the overall rod is so light it is no nuissance wh...

Re: Varivas Super Suspender SSR-610T
Man I wish you were close enough for me to test this. I’ve been eyeing them for a bit for my 6+g cranks.

Re: Trout spoon recommendations?
I’ve got a ton of spoons from 5-5.5g with different shapes and sizes. Each fills a spot depending on the type of waters I’m fishing.

Yes Its a dedicated trout BFS rod. It will load very good with UL lures like small spoons and crancks 2.5-3 gr... I am not worried about the rod... The casting abillities of the reel I doubt it and the distance achieved...?!? The rod has a lot to do with casting light weights, reel is only p...

Re: BFS Calcutta Conquest - casting
Should be fine, I’ve cast 3g with no issues. Worst case is you could always upgrade the spool to a Microcast. It’s a hefty reel that feels awesome in hand.

Re: How much line to put on UL spool?
I shoot for about 30m but I am using Varivas Nylon and targeting small streams. I respool frequently as I beat a lot of brush and rock so I just strip it all and start fresh.

Re: REVO LTX BF8
Really well made reels that are the smallest form factor I’ve handled. Can spool about 50m of 6lb to fill it up I only run about 30m as I changed the line regularly. I did swap in the HH AirBFS bearings in the side plate and spool, as well as changing the bearing behind the spool tension knob. This ...

Re: 7-8 foot bfs rod?
I look forward to receiving the Super Suspender, which is short for your liking and with a high glass content (not ideal for jig fishing?). I do not believe that you should give attention to the lower end casting weight of 0 gram, which is just this one brands way of saying that the rod handles low...

Re: BFS and Trout baitcast combos
The combo for UL fishing is almost ready. All I need is the fishing line, so please give me some tips for a thin and soft fluorocarbon. Thanks !!! https://i.imgur.com/786UyZk.jpg Fluoro is not typcially soft and thin, I would recommend a Nylon if you want soft and thin. I’m a big fan of Varivas Nyl...

7 miles of walking streams yesterday, caught this guy after hiking about 2 miles back. He smacked a Duo Ryuki Spearhead Awabi 60mm.

If no one responds before tonite I can remove the assembly from the test reel I have here and weigh it.ultralight wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 8:35 pmWondering if anyone here has weighed the 16 Aldebaran BFS handle and knob? I'd love to know how many grams.

Re: (SUL) Super Ultra Light?
Yesterday I put Quantum Enerpy PT Burner to SUL Kuying Teton, just because Quantum is most compact baitcaster that I currently have (It's really low profile reel vs. Daiwa's). Heck, that reel was heavy :-) It is 7.8 oz. My idea was to put my sv tw Zillion (with BFS spool) to SUL Kuying Teton for te...

Re: BFS rods: JDM v CDM
Thanks for this, I’ve been looking at other rods as I really like the native trout rods. I did part with my short BST rods and picked up the Tenryu Rayz as it reminds me of old graphite has good action but requires slower strokes to load properly.
