Re: MH all purpose rod, Just 1, 150 or less

I think the purple endurance rod looks pretty sweet myself. Should look reel nice with a black reel...or maybe white?

Re: Powell Rod Philosophy.

Yes, Gary use to be with Powell. I have 2 max spinning rods and just ordered an endurance casting rod. I am very pleased with Powell rods and use them everytime I go out. For the price range of the max series you WILL NOT find a better rod. With that being said, Dobyns does build slightly nicer stic...

Re: MH all purpose rod, Just 1, 150 or less

Ordered the Powell Endurance 6'7 for 109 bucks. Not gonna lok so good with the curado I was intending on putting on it. Now I am curious about the Fenwick Elite Tech smallmouth rods. Any other guys using these?

Help, Sniper or Tatsu

I'm going to attempt to put fluoro on a spinning reel again. I have had bad luck with P line 100% in the past. I am considering Sunline sniper, Seaguar Tatsu, invizx, and abrazx. I understand the invizx has a lot of stretch so I'm likely ruling that one out. I want a reasonably managable line with a...

Re: MH all purpose rod, Just 1, 150 or less

I have never come across an IMX or GL3 for 150 bucks or less. And yes, I agree the Recon is a nice stick, but I was hoping to keep this thread at 150 or less. If I was going to spend more I would buy a Dobyns Champion series before any Loomis rod besides the NRX.

Daiwa Laguna

Anyone fish with the new Daiwa Laguna yet? Need a new reel to put on a old Daiwa light and tuff. Seems like a decent lightweight easy to palm reel for 60 bucks. Replacing an old BPS Rick Clunn reel that feels like a tank on that rod. The only thing I don't like about it is no free floating spool. Pl...

MH all purpose rod, Just 1, 150 or less

If you had to fish with only one medium heavy somewhat all purpose stick for a month, what would it be? Has to be 150 bucks or less. Say for throwing spinnerbaits, lipless cranks, stick baits, jerkbaits, and Texas rigs. Baits up to 5/8 ounce. Any length rod - hoping this will open up some some discu...

Re: Johnny morris carbonlite=quantum

If you look at the magnetic side plate brake adjustment dial it is exactly the same as the more expensive Browning reels found on Basspro. I know the older Basspro reels like the Rick Clunn and pro qualifier are Pflueger, but not certain on the new JM carbonlite, however it is likely. None the less ...

Re: kistler he lta 6'9" mh

Yes, Yes, and Yes :big grin: This was actually my 1st high end rod purchase some years ago, and it is still one of my favorite sticks. If you are throwing anything over 5/8 oz. it may feel a little taxed. No deep divers, but for what you suggested this rod would be a good all purpose stick. It is li...

Re: Superline suggestions?

The Power Pro super slick 8 is great. Reminds me a lot of Sufix performance braid. Soft, smooth and supple. Nothing like the original Power Pro - to thick, stiff, and rough in my opinion. The 832 would be my 3rd choice. Somewhere in between original Power Pro and the new super slick in terms of hand...

Re: Best spinning reel(s) on the market

IMHO the best spinning reel available RIGHT NOW is the Daiwa Fuego. You can get one on sale at Tacklewarehouse for 126 bucks. This is an amazing deal. I have a size 2000, and I love it. I have yet to find a spinning reel that feels as smooth and refined as the older Daiwas. The air bail is premium. ...
