Saltwater rods for freshwater
I went fishing yesterday with my Mojo inshore MIC70MLM rod. First this rod is not a MegaTop or DX series rod, but for a finesse bait casting rod for bass, I found it worked pretty well . Has anyone else used light or med light inshore rods for freshwater and for what presentation and why are these r...

Alpha 105 or Pixy PX68 or PX spool for SOL
I have been thinking about another finesse reel. I really like my Pixy, SOL, Fuego (2 with PE shallow spools), and my hybrid 105 really a 103 with 105 spool in it. I have been thinking about the PX68 (not the SPR other than the handle and drag star) or the Alpha 105. The Alpha holds less line (which...

Re: Pond fishing
I would say that considering the average depth (just guessing) of the inlet appeared to be 3 ½ feet, I would say yes and no. The two fish I caught were from 2 to 3 feet, but these bites would be considered shallow in a normal lake. The bigger one was shallower than the small one. I think that the bi...

Re: Pond fishing
Well, the pond proved pretty good even though it was a little cool with the wind. I was throwing a Zoom Ultra vibe grub (white) weightless with a size 1 worm hook. I ended up catching 2 in about 1 hour (not great but I will take it) 1 weighed about 1lb and the other 2 to 2 ½ lbs. Not bad for a quick...

Pond fishing
I have limited access to a private pond. Since it has been very unstable weather here (70 and windy one day 50 and clear the next). I have not fished this little piece of the pond, but I am getting the itch. What bait would you use knowing that you only have a limited mount of room (the pond in on o...

Re: What features decide a baitcast reel can throw light lur
First, with a little work Revos can be made into a light lure reel. This design has taken off with some companies in Japan; I can not remember the name but the company was featured in BASS magazine. I believe besides quality bearings (Abec 7 or ZPI SIC), that a reel should have shallow spool designe...

Re: Berkley Ripple Pro cast question
The rod appears to be pretty nice, but you can get the same components on a rod over here for a lot less. The rod features an IM8 blank, Fuji Alconite guides, Fuji (?) reel seat, and EVA handle. But for a little less money (or at least the sight I found offering both rods) that the ABU Fantasista Ao...

Re: Anyone use a Certate 2500R???
The Certate at TW is the 2nd Gen one. I have been looking at these too (the 1503) and was wondering about the reviews on this reel as well. FYI this is the vintage model that is finished in gun metal.

JDM UL in US
I just noticed that TW has the Certate Vintage 1503 and 2004 (also the 2500R) series for sale. Has anyone used this reel? I am thinking of by this or the 2004 reel, just looking for feedback.
