Re: Which DC reel has the best "whine"
I have Exsence DC, Calais DC, Conquest 50DC, the new Scorpion DC. Honestly I cant really tall the difference but I havent fished them side by side on which one is the loudest. Maybe frame material factors into it. If you want to get a DC without spending alot the new Scorpion is the best bang for t...

Re: Metanium mgl vs chronarch mgl thread
Quick question-why is the chronarch mgl recommended as a freshwater only reel, while the met mgl is listed as fine to use in saltwater?

Re: Recommendations
So I'm still choosing between the met mgl and the 13- found a 13 with a zpi NRC713PG spool fitted for only a little bit extra- is this much of an upgrade over the stock spool and brake system, as I'm going to be throwing lighter lures (3/16oz+) ? Or am I best just getting a stock reel for a bit chea...

Hi guys In the market for a new reel. Looking at something mostly throwing baits weighing 3/16-3/4oz, going on a trip up to northern Australia chasing Barra. Probably going to run 15lb braid. Currently looking at an Exsence DC or a Metanium 13 or MGL. Will be used in saltwater too, I understand thes...

Shimano Metanium MG7 in saltwater
Hi guys I'm after a new general purpose casting reel, and been looking at picking up a second hand Metanium MG7. But I've heard that the Metanium MGs aren't made for saltwater use, and also heard that many people have had no troubles in years of use with Shimano MG reels. I'm going to be using this ...

Reel Choices
Hi guys Looking at a new casting reel, will usually be used for lures (spinner and buzzbaits, plastics) 1/8th to 1/4oz with 10 or 15lb braid. Currently looking at a daiwa sv105 or a 13 fishing concept e. I'm wondering if anyone has used either and which one would be a better versatile option. Also i...

Re: Found out that we are all wasting money...
I agree and disagree with this topic. In Australia we get an awesome fish called an estuary perch, who loves live baitfish, frogs, worms, and basically anything, similar to a bass. Probably the easiest way to get one is a live mullet under a float at night. While I do this occasionally, to me there ...

Thanks, I'll have a look. I was going to get the caldia from there.Hogsticker2 wrote:I recently acquired a Rarenium ci4+2500. It's pretty sweet. I'd choose it over the Caldia every time. X ship and no mag seal, plus it looks nicer imo. Max drag ratings are close to what you're looking for. 225 at Japan lure shop.

Re: What reel to get
I'll use the extra drag for heavier line. But I wouldn't use more than 7kg of drag though I guess. The Caldia has 7kg which is my max I would use.

What reel to get
Hi
I'm looking for a 2500 size spin reel at the moment. It needs about 5-10kgs of drag and spending about $250. What do you guys think is the best option? It will be run with 10lb braid (probably power pro). I'm looking at a 2014 2500 Caldia from daiwa. Has anyone used these reels?
