Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!
So I THOUGHT the Ray's HLC spool with the adjustable depth fixed inductor was relatively controllable in an OG Steez, that is, until I realized my outer magnet ring wasn't glued to the setplate. Once I fixed that and took it back out... Yeah, it's going back in my TD-Z

Re: SV BOOST Shallow vs. RCS 1012SV
Have you considered the Ray's fixed inductor long cast? They are a little deep but still quite light weight. They are non-dynamic brake spools but for lighter weight baits I find that those don't bomb cast well anyways and the linear mag brake can be set and forget in that every cast is the same. N...

Re: Steez 103 original
Steez EX gears are brass and go up to 7.9 and will also drop into a Steez Limited SV 105 8.1...I have an Ian tuned one that is also very modded, still not my first choice for frogs. Also, OG Zillion 7.1 brass can be modded to fit a Steez EX SH, I used to own one modded by Spankey from Tackle Trap, ...

Re: Steez 103 original
Heavy cover frogging or open water/sparse cover? Both As much as I dig the OG Steez 103/105, it ain't meant for froggin' in any gear ratio...least not for any enduring period of time without incurring significant wear and tear. If you want a reel from this era, the TD Fuego, OG Zillion will likely ...

Looking for a similar braid to discontinued Lew's 8 carrier
This is a bit of a long shot but I figure this is as good a place as any to ask: years ago I picked up a spool of 65# Lew's 8 carrier braid and really liked how supple and slick it was. It's since been discontinued but I figure there must be another braid out there that's either very similar or the ...

Re: Backlash PSA
Been there before. It's usually after working on my reels. Similar situation is going out and forgetting that the drag is backed off 90% from being stored that way. Things get interesting on that first bite of the day. I bought a new zillion a month ago. I put line on it and mounted it on a rod. I ...

Looking for a specific saltwater spinning reel maintenance tutorial: Alan Tani
Years ago, I remember coming across a detailed spinning reel maintenance tutorial for reels used in saltwater. Alan Tani was the guy who did it but I can't find it now. Does anyone happen to have it bookmarked? Thanks in advance!

Re: A source for 4x7x2.5mm bearings?
if you want your knobs spin for ~15sec or more. Is this a thing these days? If they only spin for 5 seconds that extra turning effort could lead to exhaustion, this is true statement, based on prior like threads. If I get to that stage of "physical fitness", you can be sure the DNR order will be we...

Re: A source for 4x7x2.5mm bearings?
if you want your knobs spin for ~15sec or more. Is this a thing these days? I personally am not concerned about free spin on my knob bearings. I ensure they're smooth which usually means they get a very light brushing of old school Woods green bearing grease. Same with frame bearings actually. The ...
