Re: Megabass blank supply problem

Gambler. I don't why you, or any body else that tracks the market, is surprised by this. Look what steel did two years ago. 5% is not that big of a deal. Construction materials went up 10% per quarter in 04 through 06 and are only now starting to fall due to a slowing market. The Gov. is still gobb...

Re: Megabass blank supply problem

Yes...and the military's appetite for Boron is even worse. no doubt.. there are a few boron rods I want that are 6 months out min. at this point. One thing too, has everybody noticed the price increases for JDM rods since 2005, or has that been overlooked because of the weak yen. The 5% hike just l...

Re: New Shimano Spin - casting distance compared to Daiwa?

Is the main shaft in the Exist 2506 the same as in the deeper spool models or is the shaft thinner/lighter due to the 2506 inherently being designed for lighter lines/techniques? Also, holding the spool from spinning at a bad fulcrum point most definitely didn't do that shaft any favors. Also, I th...

Re: Megabass Dropshot Rod

I've used several of the Hedgehog series in the past for drop shot. Actually the only Megabass rods (and the GT3) that I still use. I know there was a review on one of them here on TT, and the tip broke, but I've used these rods hard and never had a tip break on me. I am a hedgehog man myself. The ...

Re: The Chronology and Evolution of MB 110s

I think they did not always use that cheap plastic... remember the baits was originally developed and billed for the US . I ahev never seen a issue with the older year model baits. A matter of fact it was just that last huge production run they did. Food for thought, the first pro blue I saw with a ...

Re: new or old Stella?

I do not hink the difference in price is warrantied in the 2000 and above sizes. However, the 1000FD was a big improvement in my eyes. The bail trip operation and line management improvements in the 1000 alone was worth it.

Re: New Shimano Spin - casting distance compared to Daiwa?

GH, I've been fishing spinning since 1982 and have yet to bend a main shaft in a spinning reel...Daiwa, Shimano, Abu or other. How did you manage this? And would it have mattered between Daiwa, Shimano or other under the same situation of which it occurred? For sure it would not have happened with ...

Re: The Chronology and Evolution of MB 110s

The material used for the internal balancing system have changed affecting the rise of the bait in 06. You can do a search on here, and some pictures of this. Also the tolerances it was built to seem to be off, or maybe it is just the dimensions of the balancing system cavity, or balls. I have seen,...

Re: New Shimano Spin - casting distance compared to Daiwa?

That little extra distance (if there) will do you no good if the durabilty of their ultra fine main shaft is no better than this. Try reeling in what you cast with a shaft bent. On good thing though is the new part was only 1100 yen. The bad news is you have to practically take apart the whole...

Re: Megabass blank supply problem

I e-mailed PLAT about purchasing a MB Mephisto but the information I got back was that MB had problems with the supply of blanks. Anybody else who have heard this for other rods in their line? Should have ordered it earlier  There is a shortage of carbon , and this has affected quite a few ma...

Re: Black Dog Bait's Lunker Punker

Well, I'll buy a couple anyway. But I wonder if it's just the size that catches the big fish. By the way GH, any news on the 200+ JC? Looking forward to the SCREWBAIT!!! I guess we could then justify buying this . http://gritdesign.jp/bassrod704xxh.html Did Air Viper ever make a big bait rod?...

Re: JDM flipping and jig rod

I like a shorter rod for pitching vs a longer rod for flipping. However ,if 7ft is kool then i agree with Tony the EG TMJC-70XH, but if you have time the EG Wild Stallion might rule the roost. A lot of people swear by the MB F7-711X Seven-Eleven even though they bill it more as a lighter, finesse ji...
