Re: Getting Rod to Your Destination
I check mine in as a pole vaulting pole depending on the airline if the fishing rod policy is too short for my needs. Most front desk attendants don't care as long as it's in the policy and I pay the fee. Most don't even know the policies they supposed to enforce. I print out the baggage policy, hig...

Re: Looking for a small swimbait, big topwater/crank rod.
I was in the same boat a few years back I was looking for the exact same set up up to 2oz. I ended up with a custom st croix scv on a 5c711h. It's pretty sweet for ms slammers and Rago rats. The blank also comes in a sc4 version which is the same as the sc5 except for the sc5 has a carbon scrim whil...

Re: Looking for a small swimbait, big topwater/crank rod.
Hmm that's tough, the problem is the 2oz range with the $200 max price tag. If you are willing to go down to 1oz the Powell spook/trap rod is a good option. I imagine the Powell paddle tail rod is good too, I haven't used it but I love my spook/trap rod. If your mind is set on that range blank then ...

sometimes... I image the world flooded and we are the bass... I imagine giants fishing for us, throwing cheese burger crankbaits, burrito punkers, taco jigs... I imagine what it would be like to be hooked and taken up to the surface. Mostly I day dream these things when I am on the highway, paying p...

Re: Shimano Dealer in Melbourne
Get ready to pay out your nose. You're better off buying online and shipping to your house. Everything in Australia undergoes what I like to call the 'mysterious Aussie markup' anywhere from 20%-75% minimum mark up. With the usd being below the Aud your better off buying Jdm else where. Now if you'r...

You know I get confused reading some of these customer service/warranty issues in this forum; is the purpose of this forum to provide customer service? With regards to product support I think it is an outstanding forum. Yet, when observing customer service related posts, I feel customer service mayb...

Re: Trouble Staying hooked up on Hollow Body Frogs!
While your logic makes sense, to many people the problem with an 8 ft rod is it is hard, clumsy, cumbersome to walk the dog/twitch a frog with such a long rod. Also, with a slow speed reel it's hard to pick up the slack from the twitching motion used in working a frog. I concur with everyone else, i...

Re: Frog rod reel
For frogging I adore, let me reiterate ADORE the Shimano metanium mg7 with a curado e7 handle and Calais 200 asv knobs with 65lb suffix on a Dobyns Champion 735C. The set up is perfectly balanced, and you can fish it literally all day with little to no shoulder/wrist/elbow fatigue.

Re: Deep Crankin and the Chronarch TE 200DC
I have a Calcutta 100dc with a 250 dc handle paired with a Dobyns 805 McAbee rod. It is my dd22 and 3/4 oz fat free shad combo. When spooled with 20lb flouro; I nearly spool it on each cast. I genuinely have to make an effort to watch my spool with each cast and I make sure I tie a strong knot to my...

Re: Shimano Chronarch D vs. Abu Garcia REVO Premier
With the level of quality reels coming out at low price points, any Shimano reel "lower" than a core/metanium is not really worth it IMO. The middle tier price point has become serious competition and Shimano is losing ground. Now the top tier stuff, ie Calais +/- DC, Calcutta +/- DC, Core, Metanium...

Is there any way to keep the handle? ie just remove the knobs?D.R. wrote:Put a Daiwa Zillion handle on it. You will not be sorry you did.Cisco wrote:I prefer the Revo over the Chronarch D, due to it's lack of back play. However, I hate the foam knobs.
