Re: C-Rig Rod of Choice

I'm a fan of longer rods for Carolina rigging. I like the Phenix Recon2 804! Makes a great small Swimbaits rod as well! The Caroline rig uses a sweep set to set the hook, so the longer rod takes up more line faster for better hook ups.

Re: Chatterbait Rod and Line

I fish and guide mainly on the California Delta, and fish Chatterbaits darn near year round! I tried many different action rods and finally nailed it down to the Phenix X13. It's a heavy action composite rod. About an 80/20 blend. 80% carbon fiber(mostly in the butt and power section of the rod) and...

Re: Frog Rod Blank Recommendation

I have to agree with Swimbait! I've been guiding and fishing the California Delta for over 20 years. And a frog is obviously one of the most utilized techniques on the delta! And I havent found a better frog rod then the UMBX 703XH! Perfect tip for walking the frog. And PLENTY of back bone to hall t...

Re: Crankbait rod

The Phenix X13 is great for deep Cranks! However, they now have an X14 which is just shy of 8' with the same great action as the X13. I like the longer X14 for longer casts with deep cranks myself! Oh and the X14 MSRP is $209.00

Not to light! I've thrown hudd 16s with no issues. The rod itself is rated to 8oz. And that's a good price.

Re: Phenix mbx.

Always listening!! The new MBX make over probably won't be till mid 2015 or so. The new Maxims will be out in about 2 weeks, and the K2 I'm not yet 100% sure. But should be any day now as well.

Re: Phenix mbx.

I figured I would respond to this post since the 707MH and H are my favorite rods. If you haven't picked up and MBX lately there has been a few minor changes. One thing we did to help with the balance issue is we went from 4 double footed and bigger guides that finished out at 7s to two double foote...

Re: Phenix Swimbait rod options...???

You are correct in your thinking. I would use the M1 for treble hooked baits and the Ultra Swimbait for weedless or jig hook styled baits. Not to confuse you, but another super popular swimbait rod is the new M1 Inshore series. They are super light, extremely well balanced, and very affordable at un...

Re: pitching/punching rod help...

Yeah I would take a loom at the Phenix MBX 703XH as well! Great sensitivity, pretty light for such a powerful rod. And will handle 3-5oz pretty easily.

Re: Best UL rod for 1/64oz micro-jigs

Yes take a look at the Phenix Elixer, not the Mirage. The mirage is great but very UL and probably a bit to whippet for what you are looking for. The Elixer comes in a lot of 2 piece but also single piece as well. The way the two piece is built and farreled you won't see any flat spots in the blank ...
