Re: First round reel

What gear ratio? The 14/15 is SUPER smooth and palms well. I sold mine because I palm my reels like an idiot. The size of the 14/15 is pretty small in comparison to the older models. The 14/15 can cast from about 1/8oz to whatever. Lol, it can't be that idiotic. I've seen some pretty major idiots o...

Ditto, and the Legalis is the only reel you listed with an aluminum frame. I have the 2500 and I think its a very good reel, especially for the $45-$55 price tag on many of the budget/auction sites.

Re: Daiwa SV103 versus Shimano Chronarch MGL

That doesn't make one manufacturer absolutely superior to another, especially Daiwa & Shimano, and no one has any truly substantive proof otherwise. The OP wanted a reel for general bass fishing, so yeah, the proven aluminum framed user friendly tank of a reel, the iterations of which have overwhelm...

I can skim a 1/2oz or 3/8oz Keitech Model 1 very well on my NRX 853C. 15lb InvizX. You should give the Model 3 Swim Jig /4.8 FAT a try. Holy Hell! You might just skip it accidentally. I can put that bait anywhere. ZLN100HL-TWS/TAT721MHRB-G/40# J-Braid The Model 3 is one of my favorite swi...

Re: Daiwa SV103 versus Shimano Chronarch MGL

The SS SV does very well at target casting, line management and skipping. The problem is that that's ALL it want's to do. The other SV reels will cast reasonably far as well as skip beautifully but the SS SV chokes off the distance when compared to other reels. That line management ability means it...

Re: Daiwa SV103 versus Shimano Chronarch MGL

No one said you had to do anything to the SV to make it as good as anything else, but the fact that you can makes it more versatile and more fun to tune and experiment with. Plus, should something go wrong, there are a plethora of sources for new or upgraded parts to better suit your needs, and you ...

I've only used the 3" but they seem more durable, so of course the bass don't seem to like them as much.

The Rhythm Wave is a stank but effective swing impact fat alternative. Better durability and a different rolling action.

Re: Long distance topwater rod

I have a Tatula 7'2" glass rod with a zillion tws 6.3 with hedgehog air hd's and 40# j-braid that blasts those kinds of baits out there. No idea how far, but further than anything else I have. And since it's not too long, I can actually work the bait once it's out there. My absolute favorite is the ...

Re: Flippin'/ pitchin'; same thing, right?

I typically pitch, too, but mostly because flipping is awkward and requires a lot of practice to get down. I just put together a killer setup for flipping, though, and I'm determined to master the technique. ZIL801HFB/ZLN100XXSL-TWS/20# Abrazx. One thing I want to try, though, is using a low speed, ...

Re: Sunline SuperNatural Mizu Blue opinion

It's darker blue than i expected. Like the same blue on the coastal tws. The fish don't seem to mind. Handles great with spinnerbaits and looks awesome on your spool.
