Re: Curado I - WOW!
Hows the new breaking system? Does it just give you longer casting or does it also help with pitching or skipping?

Re: New gear help for a noob.
For $200 brand new I would recommend this.... Casting: Reel- Shimano Caenan $89.99 The gear ratio you want here is in the 6:2:1 area which is where this reel is Rod- Shimano Compre $109.99 An all around versatile rod would probably be a 7 foot medium heavy fast action Spinning: Reel-Shimano Sahara $...

Screaming Calais DC
My Calais DC screams when I cast it and is not getting the distance it once had. 5 yrs old.
Is it a bearing?
Are these reels difficult to take apart and fix?

Re: --WHICH SPINNING ROD TO BUY?----
I've heard nothing but good things about Dobyns rods. I haven't used one as I'm a loomis guy. I would look into the warranty on these rods because I think Dobyns has a good one...

Re: Frog Rod Suggestion
How heavy is the cover you are fishing? The cover in my area is moderate and believe it or not I'm using my NRX 873 CRR for throwing hollow bodied frogs. The rod has been deadly on hook ups and I love using it for pitching 3/8 to 1/2oz jigs. It's probably more like a 4.5 power rod when thinking in t...

Re: Thinking about a NRX
For what it's worth my first NRX was the 873 CRR and now I own 5 NRX rods :D It's a slippery slope when you get into the NRX line. The 873 CRR is deadly for a lot of techniques from jigs to frogs as well as c-rigs. I personally like the CRR better for shallower techniques and the 893 for deep but if...
Re: NRX 822
Last year I used the 822 SYR for drop shotting lake Erie in mostly 20-30 FOW and it out performed everyone I fished with. I'm looking to add the DSR this year but I'm worried the lighter action my not be as good as the SYR was on this lake.

Re: Fluorocarbon is for fools.
I heard that fluorocarbon stretches more than mono when they are both dry. When the lines get wet mono absorbs more water and that makes it stretch more than fluoro. This is why people say fluoro has no stretch but it does.

SVS Infinity for pitching
Has the SVS Infinity breaking system made a difference in your pitching applications as compared to the old Shimano breaking system? I might buy a Curado I for pitching and shift my Core 51 to a different application. I'm thinking with the micro braking adjustments, x-ship and the increased drag pre...

Re: Curado I vs. Tatula vs. 13 Fishing Concept A
All will do what you need. I've never had a problem with shimano. 13 Fishing is too new for me to drop cash on right now and you can't go wrong with the Tatula. IMO go with Shimano or Daiwa

Re: NRX for flipping and pitching
I like my 873 crr for jigs form 3/8 to 3/4. It's a powerful rod and I'm sure you will not have a problem with it . I also use it for frogs. Keep in mind the 873 crr would probably be a 4.5 power in a jwr.

Re: So my next Nrx question is.....
Love my 853 for pitching to sparse to medium cover. Use the 893 when fishing deeper 15-25 ft range. You will not be disappointed with the 853
