Destroyer F5-66X Bearing Down 30th Anniversary
Anyone with knowledge on the taper and power of this rod? Was using my Phase 3 Super Destroyer F6-69X last year to skip jigs under docks. I recently sold it just because I needed money to fund other things. Curious to see if this Bearing Down 30th will work for it. I've fished a phase 3 BD before an...

Re: MB Zonda Hedgehog Custom
I think the bearings are the same. Not much "tuning" from Daiwa to MB other than cosmetics. Spools are ported that's about it. The magnets on the side plate is different than the magnets on the Alphas. I think it is stronger magnets vs Alphas magnets. Some spools may fit the Alphas but won't fit the...

Re: MB Zonda Hedgehog Custom
Nice reel and the two spool options is nice. One of the prettiest reels ever. Based on the Alphas frame but with different magnets. Yes the shallow spool is for BFS. Doesn't hold a lot of lines but is amazing tossing light lures on light line with the right rod. Deep spool with the reel you could sa...

Re: Megabass Cyclone advantage
Very nice rod. Use mine for jerkbaits although to some it may be a tad stout for it but I like it. Also a good river rod to fish multiple lures like light bottom contact, top water, and cranks. I wish they made a 7'1 version of the rod.

Re: TD-Z Owners Guild
Been testing the BE vs AOI spool. AOI spool is fast and has great distance. Sub 1/2 oz total weight is where the BE starts to pull away from the AOI spool. Tossing a 3/8oz total lure on the AOI/BE setup with a F4 rod 12lb lines is really nice. Very controlled and distance was very good. BE has YT Fu...

I have a SV103 paired with my XXPP. They are hard to beat for the money. There has been some for sale in the classifieds lately.

Re: Dedicated swimjig rod.
Megabass Orochi F5-70DG Advantage Type River Slant Bridge is a very nice swimjig rod. Nice combination of power and taper. I am thinking of picking up a Steez STZ721MHRB-AGS to try. I like the stiff jdm regular taper more than an US fast taper for swimjigs.

Nice pickup! I have 7 Steez body variants but for some reason always wanted the TN but never made the move. I do have 3 sets of the bass or die knobs though.

Re: Pixy ZPI-301 Spool
My impression of the I'ze Finesse spool is a bit different. Sure it can cast light weight well but I've tossed 1/4 oz neds heads with plastic on it and it was great. I've even 3/8oz paddletails on it and it bombs it. I don't feel it is a very fast spool like the PXR spool. It has very good control i...

Re: Megabass rod for swimjigs and frogs?
Daemos can't handle frogs in pads. My ideal swim jig rod and frog rod doesn't really have the same characteristics. If I had to choose one of the rods I've fished I'd say the C40 Mephisto. Otherwise if you don't want to spend much just get the XXPP. Tip is soft enough to run swim jigs on it but very...

Re: Post purple
Bought the reel from Japan as "SLP 6.8 gears and tuned". I ran my nails across the logo and it seems like a sticker. The reel does have higher speed gears in it but probably just Daiwa 6.8. The line guide and ccc is probably just a PX68 ones. I know SLP once did a paint job and sticker program...
