Re: Upgrade Mgx or buy JDM BFS?

To clarify, I own a Steez, Aldebaran '15 and Revo LTX (all stock). All three can cast a ned rig with a 1/15 shroomz head using a good whip of the rod. I haven't tried pitching it, but I don't think it would be that successful at this weight (at least not in a way where I would feel comfortable pitch...

Re: Rapala 40ton graphite cranking rod

I have a tough time understanding Rapala's strategy. I would think that the US is a (if not THE) prime market for bass fishing. TT reviewed the Concept Ti to great acclaim: http://www.tackletour.com/reviewrapalacantrigger70.html Yet, I can't find this stick anywhere in the US and I also looked in Ca...

Re: Upgrade Mgx or buy JDM BFS?

I have a Revo LTX and I think that 1/16 would be a stretch (although I haven't tried it).

If you really want to spoil yourself, I'd say get an Aldebaran or a Steez and arm it with a finesse spool. Not a cheap option by any means, but an option which I am sure you'll really enjoy :-$

Re: Best rod to throw monster cranks?

Thanks all, super helpful. And great list of reels, Bronzefly. Personally, I like the Abus as well. Not as "enthusiast" as some of the other options, but love the Revo Winch and the JDM Power Crank 5 & 6. And can never go wrong with Calcuttas; my current plan is to pair up the mag crank rod with a C...

Re: The Carrot Combo: Orange Rod and Green Spinning Reel?

Great. The Cabela's Fuego is based on the Daiwa fuego, right?

If I can find it, would definitely be a great option (It looks like it was a 50th Anniversary edition, so may not be easy to find).

Re: ABU "T3"?

Great, thanks. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious

Since they are blurring the line guide for one of the reels, it may very well be that they have some TWS version...

Re: The Carrot Combo: Orange Rod and Green Spinning Reel?

Absolutely on the Cardiff. The spool is really shallow, but this is fine for 10# braid.

Re: The Carrot Combo: Orange Rod and Green Spinning Reel?

The TD-Ito 2506 is green. You could always do a custom rod on an orange blank too. This is what I did. TD Ito 2506 + Custom Rod.... Thanks all, great suggestions. Not sure I'm willing to go with a combo rod for this purpose but definitely good to know the options. Will probably do 2 combos - one wi...

Re: Best rod to throw monster cranks?

Thank you all for the helpful replies. Barrys, I assume that you are using the Graphite version of the 806CB and not the Glass version (don't think they make a 806CB in Glass but just making sure)? Agree with both Barrys and Bronzefly, heaving and retrieving these cranks is a hefty task and in a cla...

The Carrot Combo: Orange Rod and Green Spinning Reel?

A bit of a random ask... 8-[ I am looking to get another spinning combo for my wife. The weird requirement is that it has to look like a carrot. Looking for an orange rod (pretty easy with the carrot stix) but I am looking for a green spinning reel. I know that Mitchell used to have green reels. Any...

Best rod to throw monster cranks?

Looking for a rod to throw the big cranks - 10XD, LC SKT MAG, others. These cranks go up to 2 oz and 25' in diving depth. Any thoughts as to best rods to handle these? I'm not a big fan of glass but like mix of glass and graphite. Looking for something that can be thrown all day without too much fat...

Re: Megabass Destroyer Phase 3 versus Loomis NRX 843C

Great to hear and congrats. I have only heard great things about Loomis customer service; and with their XPeditor service, you can get a replacement rod for $100, should you do something stupid like slam it in a door (I did this last spring). Makes me feel much more comfortable about shelling out th...

Re: Digitaka rod shipping expense

Ok, I thought from your original post that you were insinuating that you were getting ripped off by accepting this shipping cost; I must have misread (wouldn't be the first time and certainly won't be the last :-k ).

No biggie, we both agree that $25 is a decent price.

Re: St. Croix Legend Elite 6'10"MLXF spinning

My experience with the LTB series is that it is much stiffer than what one would expect. I do own the LTB610MLXF and I would couch it more as M / MH. A big part of it is the XF tip. It is much too stiff for me to drop shot with. I use it for light t-rigged soft plastics where you need a good whack t...
