Re: Anyone tried Amtak microwave guide sets?
I put a new concept guide setup and a microwave guide setup on a pair of Lami LP844's and I was pleasantly surprised. I was going to do some formal measurements, but I could not get the right combination of weather and friends to come over on said weather days(I live WAY out on the prarie in CO). SO...

Re: Heavy composite cranking rod
I did build myself a K2, sold it. It broke on a nice pike shortly after on hookset. The guy paid for the unconditional replacement and shipping, built that one up only to have that one break on hookset as well. I'm just not into crankbait fishing, I did however plant my first swimbait fish today, a ...

Re: Heavy composite cranking rod
Just about all of them. I have had to send back a UMBX and a Recon blank. When I ordered 3 recons, 1 MH and 2 H, the MH and one H weighed the same and the other H was heavier. And you can never count on the tip size to be correct, more than once I'd order parts and have to order and pay the shipping...

Re: Heavy composite cranking rod
froteur, I wouldn't even consider it, quality control issues from a builders perspective have me never buying or building another phenix again.

Re: Heavy composite cranking rod
Thanks Van, I don't fish cranks nearly at all, the ocasional lipless is about it for me. I'm wary of just choosing a blank based on raw specs alone, the fluke rod I built for my Cuz on the blue lightening CBW709 has that nice composite tip and it breaks into the backbone very fast. It makes me heist...

The rod will be used for cranking deep divers over rocks with flouro.

Heavy composite cranking rod
I'm looking for options/opinions on a heavy deep diver cranking blank. Would prefer a composite, but I'm not at all going to discount the all graphite options. Has to be 7'6" or longer. I'm just not normally a crankbait guy, so I don't know where to start with the blanks other than reading the label...

Do you at least have pics? It might not all be lost.....unless the ceiling fan or door somehow got involved.

Re: Phenix recon blanks
I've never seen quality control issues like this on anything in the $40ish range. I remember Vince touting the best quality control in the world at one point....before he had "pro-staff" in his sig line.

Re: Phenix recon blanks
I've had problems all around with their quality control and listed measurements.... I've had about 3/4's of the phenix rods I've built needing to order a tip that's a size or two larger than listed, which makes planning my builds and orders a pain in the ass. I did order 3 recons once. one MH and tw...

Re: SK2 Split Reel Seats...
I know this is a VERY late reply to your query, but I'd like to add that I now prefer the PAC BAY Minima reel seats. Direct rod to seat contact on the non-threaded portion! The threaded barrel is simple to cut to precise/preferred length. Zero issues fitting handles to seats and the totally exposed...

Re: lightest guide setup for spinning
I've had issues with mono line coils and anything smaller than size 6's, my normal setup goes BYAG20, BYAG10, BLAG6 to the tip. If you want to lighten it, go with pac bay minima 4 guides.

Re: Swimbait Blank RDA Data
To confuse matters even more, Mudhole lists it as 1-5 oz. According to Vince, the ML is indeed rated to 3 ounces (not 2). The 2 ounce rating on the Phenix website for the blank is a typo. That's the best way to describe Phenix, one big typo, always bad measurements, maybe they are using uncalibrate...
