Re: Centered Pupil Vision 110 -- Warm Water
I changed out the outbarbs for Owner Stinger BC size 6. Water temp 65 F. Lure slowly sank. I didn't stop to see if it reached a point of neutral buoyancy. Lost the lure in the end. Anybody else experience a similar situation? The Katsuage outbarbs are obviously super light. The only people I know t...

Re: Stradic CI4 extra spool
steve- will it be the same spool as the original one on the reel or a scaled down version?? It is the same spool and I think I know why you are asking...Back in the day (and maybe today with some of the lower end stuff), Shimano would sell you an mid-grade aluminum reel and then the spare spool tha...

Re: football head jig setup?
I'm confused isn't the 854 hvy 7'1" rated for 14-20 lb. & 5/16-3/4oz on paper would seem to be more stout than the 873? I just received my 854 and haven't had a chance to fish it yet.. :? The 873 is a CRR, not a JWR. Like the BCR GLX rods, the two carolina rig models - BCR 874 and 875 - were both s...

Re: Stradic CI4 extra spool
You can get them directly from Shimano customer service--they have been on massive back order. I called in early March..had all but forgot about it. Found my notes the other day and the estimated in stock date was April 25th--I need to call them. I believe (its been a while) that the cost was in the...

Re: Vision 110 Magnum
Supposed to VERY slowly sink but that's gonna be totally dependent on water temp. One guy I talked to does not like it at all because it is quiet (no shifting weighted balls) and suspends more level as opposed to nose-down.

Re: football head jig setup?
I just spooled up a new Steex 100 HSA and an NRX 873 CRR for this...I better like it. BTW, 17lb. Trilene 100%.

Re: Smoothness
For starters....strength won't be an issue with any of them...Make sure you tie a good knot to avoid slippage. Stren sonic braid is the smallest diameter compared to listed weight that I have found (but we all know how much listed weight matters)...They are all gonna bleed color no matter how much y...

Re: steez 100 info?
I prefer a more "solid" "workhorse" type of reel for moving baits...Something with the feel of a Chronarch D or Calais. I know they are heavier, but have a more powerful feel (to me). Just so you know I'm not biased, I just picked up my first Daiwas in 15 years last week. A Steez 103 SHA and a Steez...

Re: So how does everyone feel now?
I still believe FC is a must have for bottom contact baits due to its sensitivity (density). I still don't throw it on my treble hook lures or spinnerbaits...usually.

Re: BPS EXCEL? Is it any good????
I used it for years until I had a bass bulldog me straight away from the boat and break 10lb line clean in 47 degree water and take my wiggle wart with her. This was the 1st cast after a re-tie. This probably doesn't mean anything, but it got in my head big-time. Because most mono is very affordable...

Re: Braid Knot
Double Palomar.... Which is making a wrap around the hook eye before doubling the line. That is actually not the double palomar. On the double palomar, you simply tie 2 overhand knots, instead of one, with the double line before you pass the loop over the hook.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7b...

Re: Megabass Trick/Rocket Darter
I'm sure it was a trick darter. They sink too...just not as fast. Supposed to suspend..best when worked without much of a pause.
