Re: Dobyn's Fury vs. 13 Fishing Omen 2 Casting
I have two Fury rods on the way. I'll post my impressions of them as soon as I get them in. I got the 733c and the 735c. I've never used a 13 fishing rod, so I won't be able to compare. But I do have Lew's Lite reels as well. So I'll throw one of those on the Furys and see what it feels like. Justin

Re: who custom paints reels?
Thanks for the replies! I heard Calfish isn't painting reels any more...? I could be wrong on that though. Also, I can't seem to be able to find any contact info for Calfish. I inquired about Decade Works..I didn't realize he was in Japan, but if that's what I gotta do to get my reel painted, then ...

Re: Dobyns rod
Depending on what you want to spend, the 683c Champion or 663c Fury should be great for 3/8 oz SBs, if you want to stay under 7 feet. I'm a SB fanatic and have used Dobyns rods for many years. I think the 3 power fast action casting rods they make are fantastic for this. I personally love my 703 and...

Pink rod for my wife...help, custom? Anyone make one?
Hey guys, need some help.. My wife has really gotten into fishing with me and of course, wants a pink fishing rod. I haven't had much luck finding one. Do y'all know of a company that makes a decent casting rod that's pink? Or know of a custom builder that would make one? Thanks in advance! Justin
Re: What reel
I'd say Curado I or Tatula..and it just depends on your personal taste with it, like others have said. The Tatula is a little bigger frame and half an ounce heavier, so that factors in. But having a lot of experience with both, I'd give the casting edge to the Tatula, especially for a crankbait reel...

Core 50 and Scorpion 1000XT. I've been through many many reels over the years but I've owned these two for a loooong time. Great great reels.

Re: Best Shimano pitching reel
For 1/4-3/4 like you stated, I'd probably choose a Metanium XG or Chronarch Ci4+ HG. Anything around 1/4 or lighter, definitely a Core50MG7 or Aldebaran MG7.

Re: Which Shimano shallow cranking reel?
x2 on the Scorpion 1000XT. I put a longer CF handle on mine. It's a great little reel for small cranks and stuff like that. I've had mine for a long time and it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

New Curados!
So it's been a while since I've posted here, but I am a loooong time member of these forums. I've owned countless reels over the last 10 years or so of being a tackle junkie. I've always been a fan of the mid market stuff, but I've owned my share of the more expensive/enthusiast tackle as well as a ...
