Re: Evergreen International Defines "IT" Again : The Orion OCSC-71H+ Black Rose
Sounds like a high end version of the Megabass Hyuga 72H. I LOVE that stick. I will be sad as hell when my Hyuga 72H dies, but oh man it is going to be so much fun trying to find a rod to replace it. It was my gateway drug into "non-USDM" power/taper combos and was at the perfect pricepoint to take...

Re: Zoom Trick Worm Texas Style
but how deep? seems like a long weight for it to hit the bottom Oh, very very shallow, surface twitching to maybe 3-4' at most. I am surrounded by shallow marshes with varying levels of pad cover and submerged wood, a weightless Trickworm is ideal for that sort of fishing imho. I want heavier line ...

Re: Free Rig
I have been thinking of trying a free rig for some of the river fishing I do. The idea will be to use a Lindy Walking Sinker and a Hula Grub. The plastic should offer close to max drag and the sinker should be ideal for working across the rocky bottom if I don't get bit on the fall.

Re: Zoom Trick Worm Texas Style
I use 3/0 and 4/0 round bend offset shank worm hooks. I started missing fish when I went to wide gap hooks, so I went back to what works for me. Agree very much, a weightless Trickworm is one of my most used presentations and I have found that a 3/0 Owner medium wire straight shank gives the best h...

Re: Spare spool
I keep a spare Daiwa 34mm loaded with 40lb braid in my car at all times, it covers a lot of my reels and has come in handy twice now in like 4 years. When I am out with one of my Pixies I bring a spare spool full of 6lb mono along, sadly that one comes in handy a lot more often.

Re: What would happen to Megabass without Yuki Ito?
The P5 rods have sparked a tremendous amount of interest. For real. I am seeing a ton of talk about the P5 rods, way way more then I have ever seen about any higher-end rod. Even on some of the reddit fishing subs, places where "get you a ugly stick" is like every other post, there is a ton of inte...

Re: Non-Daiwa guy question
It depends on the braking system in the spool and sometimes what reel the spool is in. I do slow and stop every cast with my thumb, but even that isn't needed with some SV spools in some reels. But in general: Magforce V/Z: Will thumb sooner once the lure hits the "halfway" point, I keep my thumb at...

Re: This is a first for me
I have admittedly never really looked at the ball hitch on a truck, but is it just secured by a single bolt and nut? I ask because it seems like it would be easy enough to secure it by using red locktite and/or deforming the threaded end of the bolt with a cold chisel. I some of the equipment I rent...

I guess it depends on what it's sitting next too?

Re: New Megabass Destroyers
The P5 Bait Finesse is absolutely slower in action and has a little less power than the Carbon Head Hein. The P5 Bait Finesse will handle those 1/8 oz jigs with a small trailer just fine. It's a very versatile rod in general and does a great job with a range of lighter treble baits and even some of...

Cool, thanks for the info.Amir_zwara wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 6:09 pm.22oz is a little over 6grams.... it'll absolutely fly on the 7'4"
Thin wire hook, texposed, you'll be good. No thick wires, don't bury the point too deep.

Re: New Megabass Destroyers
P5 Bait Finesse is a slightly faster taper than the Carbon Head Hein. I picked it up for smaller jerkbaits and drop shot as the drop shotting I do is more casting than vertical No plans to use it however, for a Keitech jig with small trailer though. I use the Cyclone for that I really wish MB had c...

Re: New Megabass Destroyers
Anyone end up with the P5 Bait Finesse/Hien? It's the P5 rod that makes the most "sense" for me to pick up but I have not been able to find any real info on it. I had been hemming and hawing over the Carbonhead Hien for most of 2019 but this new one seems a lot different in terms of taper. Right now...

Re: Dobyns Sierra Ultra Finesse Casting Rods
https://i.imgur.com/uZcbPDsl.jpg Total weight is ~0.22oz. Anyone with time on these rods think the 7'4" one would be able to both make long ass casts and give solid hooksets with a rig like this? I want to use the rod for both some light inshsore (1/8-3/16oz spoons and spinners) and some fw river f...
