Re: Zillon SV TW; Cannot get it reassembled correctly

Ok! The handle now moves in the correct direction!

Last remaining issue is the clutch bar not engaging. The AR Ratchet is currently installed opposite of how it is shown in this picture;

I have tried it both ways and neither seem to work out.

That sounds like it! I will try in a second.

Re: Zillon SV TW; Cannot get it reassembled correctly

One problem solved; the spool would not engage because the bearing pin on the spool had fallen out. I keep my parts in an 3600 box when I am working on a reel, but it was nowhere to be found. Fortunately I had ordered some spares the last time I bought after market bearings. But now a new problem. I...

Zillon SV TW; Cannot get it reassembled correctly

Hi, So after a dozen tries, I have to share my shame and ask for help. I have a Zillion SV TW 9.1. I got it when they first came out and have used it a few times a week since then. A week or so ago I noticed it was making a soft "whooshing" noise on the retrieve when retrieved under load. It sounded...

Re: Ned Rig on Casting Gear

Also keep in mind that a Ned made from a 1/16oz jig with a small hook and a TRD worm weighs in almost right at 3/16oz. My stock sv105 with 10lb floro and a ML/RF rod was casting it very well for distance, but did suffer a little with short, precise casts.

Re: Problems w/ Zillion SV TW

Does anyone think that for the lures I am throwing that the Zillion SV will be worth the extra $ or should I just wait for the SV105 to go back super cheap? I thought the sv105 was discontinued? I have both reels and prefer the sv105 over the Zillion. It feels more sturdy and is far more comfortabl...

Re: PX68 SPR spool availability?

My concern is both dropping it and the ease in which the spool can be damaged just by a moment of carelessness when putting it back in the reel. It seems ill advised to buy a mechanical device without available or easily made replacements parts. I sold mine after snapping back to reality and realizi...

Re: Rod for 1/16 jigs and soft plastics.

I have a Phenix PHX-C682L that I use for small plastics and micro-jigs. The 1/16oz low end is a bit optimistic, but it will throw a Trickworm + hook (so .235oz) very well with light floro. When I started weighing plastics I was shocked at how heavy they are, even a 3" senko with a tiny hook is close...

Re: PX68 SPR spool availability?

That is sad to hear. They are getting very cheap on ebay, but it sounds like it could be more trouble than it's worth.

PX68 SPR spool availability?

Hi, I'm looking at getting an SPR for dedicated light cranks/inline spinner combo. However, the unique spool has me a bit worried. I looked around and couldn't find anywhere to buy one. Should I assume that if I pull the trigger on this reel that I need to baby the hell out of the spool and plan on ...

Re: alphas finesse custom question

Does anyone know what parts make it freshwater only?

I picked one up quite cheap (~$115) with an eye to pair it with a Daiwa 3B travel rod, but I live near the Chesapeake Bay and fish brackish water somewhat often.

Re: Reins Bubbling Shaker

I discovered the Bubbling Shaker last year and use them a lot. I prefer the 3.5-4" ones, and usually fish them on a weightless t-rig. They have an amazing action when fished like a fluke and have a good wiggle on the fall. I find that they, while more durable then I assumed they would be, are soft e...

Re: Dedicated lighter plastics bfs setup

I can cast a 4" Zoom finesse worm with a 1/0 hook (2/10 oz) about 35 feet or so. A 5" GYB senko quite a bit further. 1/8 oz is too light for me to cast. Perfect! I am looking to get a casting counterpart to my main finesse spinning rod, which is a custom on a CS722-MHX blank. It casts the lower and...

Re: Single hook in-line spinner hooking quality

I like the looks of the VMC #7239O Open Eye Barbless Spinner Hook (sizes to a #12), but they're not available that I can find in the US. The UK supplier won't ship to the US. It allows for direct attachment of the hook without using a split ring (which I find usually impairs the action). Man, that ...
