Mine was the Chronarch Bantum 100. I still have it, but now it feels tall and awkward in my hands, after fishing my newerer, truly low profile reels. And the spool seems so narrow! I seldom use it now, even with it's upgraded ceramic bearings.John Puckett wrote:Shimano Chronarch 101A

Re: "Borrowed" ideas
The Quantum ACS is what got me using Quantum reels. I loved how easily I could adjust the brakes.
Strange that they went away from it on the Exo line.

Re: Four-Way Handle???
When I was coming from spinning reels, I felt the baitcasters over did it with an extra one. I used to fish a Penn Surfmaster a lot, and I appreciated the additional handle. I think Cagey and Maverick are right...cumbersome and overkill. I'm sure someone will buy them, and make a career of defendin...

Now, now Oleg, don't get greedy. If the good folks at Daiwa only give you one every two months, for life, just bite the bullet and suffer in silence.

Ceramic line guides go back a long ways...decades, for lots of different manufacturers. Gold or titanium coated aluminum/metal line guides are plenty enough durable...in this case with the TWS, the grooving is caused by certain tension line angles on the TWS metal line guide. But yes, I have stated...

I contacted Benson. Thanks.facelessnewsouth wrote:http://forums.tackletour.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=6076321farms wrote:however, the only way to fit shimano knobs on your lews reels would be to change out the knob shafts which i don't think is possible with factory handles.
Re: Why
I didn't even know I had a vestigial, and I already take a pill for my Arrector condition, although seeing knobs of any color still seems to aggravate it.
Re: Why
Cagey, That is why I asked the original question, "I read how emotional and defensive people get about their particular choice of reel, or rod for that matter, and I wonder why?" I can understand why people like what they like. I have certain hand tools I like, and others have other likes. My choice...

Re: Why doesn't Daiwa face the TWS grooving issue?(with pics
I am surprised, not by there being issues, but by Daiwa not correcting them long before this drama could develop.
I would think those grooves would be a warranty issue, and that Daiwa would change the metal they use, or coat it with something to make it harder.
