Re: 7'6" to 8'6" BFS rod
Just an update concerning the BFS rod. I ended up choosing the Major Craft NSL-T782ML/BF --- 7'8", regular fast action, lure rating 2-15 gram, line 4-12 lb. Fuji K-frame SIC rings (reverse/spiral wrapped!), Nano Power carbon blank, Fuji ACS reel seat. Approx 20.000 JPY from Kazu @ JPAngler (thank yo...

Re: Best round reel for BFS - out of the box
Shimano Conquest 51S seems hard to find (I will keep looking) and the Shimano Cardiff 51DC will set me back around 800 USD (after tax) from ebay/ibuyjp. Is the new Conquest 101(HG) a decent substitute ?

Re: daiwa alphas 15 sv user reviews
I have been using mine throwing Mepps Aglia size 3 spinners or similar from shore (approx 5-6 gr or 1/5 oz). Since I have not thrown anything else, I do not know if this is the sweet spot. Still, I would say it is a very good spot. No issues whatsoever...

Re: Conquest HG? (anyone get theirs yet?)
The 100 / 101 looks fantastic. With regard to lure weight, how low will it comfortably go?

Re: Daiwa PX68L JDM not so smooth
Try cleaning and greasing the worm shaft. Thx. Just did with no real improvement. However, I did some more experimenting and found that when I have the cast control loose (as I prefer) then the clicking/grinding sensation is there. When I tighten the cast control knob to where the lure barely falls...

Re: Daiwa PX68L JDM not so smooth
I had the same issue with my px68 and it was a spool bearing. Smooth with no load then clunky under load, casts were loud as well. Swapped the bearings and now its butter. Have swapped bearings to hedgehog air bearings (and back) with no effect. Feels as if the issue is gear related, though I canno...

Re: Daiwa PX68L JDM not so smooth
Thx. I also have the PX68L SPR version, which I love. No issues whatsoever.
I hope somebody can tell me what to do.
Otherwise I will do a full tear-down and reassembly (with the risk of ....ing it up)...

Daiwa PX68L JDM not so smooth
Hello, I have been using a Daiwa PX68L JDM on approx. 5 fishing trips. So far not impressed. When the reel is not in use, and I turn the handle, everything is smooth. However, when the reel is in use, or when minimal pressure is applied to the spool (eg. Slight thumb pressure on spool while turning ...

Re: 7'6" to 8'6" BFS rod
Thank you both. Something to explore. Rods targeted towards ocean fishing are OK. I also do the occasional bit of fishing along the coast (sea-run browns / seatrout).

7'6" to 8'6" BFS rod
Hello, I have been lurking around for some time, and have thoroughly enjoyed reading through post after post on baitcasting gear. Thank you - to no one in particular... the forum in general. I live in Denmark where relatively little quality baitcasting gear can be found. Therefore, I tend to shop on...
