Re: Loomis 873 NRX or 874 GLX for Football Jigs and Pitching

Once again, I have actually owned and fished extensively both rods in question. Both are very capable 1/2 oz pitching rods and very capable football jig rods. The edge in power goes to the BCR 874 GLX, the edge in sensitivity goes clearly to the CRR 873 NRX. Picking one of the two for pitching 1/2 o...

Re: which one is better for T-rig, NRX 853 VS NRX 854

usually I use 1/2 ounce or 3/8, and 5' senko or 4' creature. If it's usually 1/2 oz. I'm going with the 854 for sure between those two. On a side note, there is no doubt that the CRR 873 is clearly more powerful than the JWR 854. I'm a big fan of the 873 and use it and the 893 more than any other N...

Re: Rod/Reel/Line advice for smallmouth

I own the SMR 751s and really enjoy it. I use mine for jerkbaits most often, but will also break out some finesse tubes, light jigs, 4" senkos, etc. without hesitation. It's nice and light, sensitive, and would match up nicely with the Stradic 2500Ci4. Although, the additional length of the 811 may ...

Re: Any Suggestions for a T-Rig and Jig Baitcasting Rod?

Simply because of your avatar, I have to throw out the G Loomis MBR 842 GLX as an option. It's an ideal choice for your intended purposes, can be had for less than your budget if you shop around a little bit, and is good for a lot of other techniques as well. Either way, we're a Loomis and Dobyns de...

Re: Megabass lineup

Hey Eric - I was hoping that someone besides me would respond who also has a good bit of experience with both the Loomis and Megabass lineup - perhaps with a comparison between the MBR 844 GLX and either the Megabass X4 Cover Hacking or the X4 Destruction. I will say that both of the X4's you've men...

Re: Megabass rod action

Ok, so a Megabas Cyclone 6' 6" has the similare rod action to Loomis 783 6'6" fast action ? i am looking to select a Megabass model but not familiar with their rating on their actions, can someone perhaps define Megabass rod action from fast to slow, where does "Regular action" sit amongest fast an...

Re: Flexlite worth it?

Thanks for the info. 8-) I've been looking for a new cranking rod, though it isn't a pressing need...more of a want. Off of our dock, I usually don't crank down past ten feet (the JawJacker SSD, the Tennessee Tuffy TT, MB Deep-X 100, LC RC 1.5DD, and the Fat Mini D-7). The Black Elseil sounds prett...

Re: Flexlite worth it?

Thanks, I was actually just checking out the Megabass rods at yalls website but did not think about them till after I made my post, and I wasn't real sure what model would be best suited for my application. You may have just made my decision for me  . I have always wanted a Megabass rod and I ...

Re: Casting a Steez 103HA

I agree-to a certain extent. If you like the behavior of the R+ and can control it, it can be a great performer. And the ZPI Mg spool is an AWESOME upgrade, but can't be touched for less than $90, assuming you can find one(this one isn't a problem for you, Gary- ;) ). But if you just want the stock...

Re: Flexlite worth it?

Hi Austin - welcome to Tackle Tour! I've owned and fished with each of the Steez Flex-lite rods but I no longer own any of them. They're very good rods, but I think there are better rods out there for the money. One of my favorite moving bait rods is the Megabass F4.5-70X4 Black Elseil. It's ideal f...

Re: Pixy Spool Options...

Thanks for the info. Not nessasarily looking for a deep spool, just one that holds more line then the one I have. I think I read that the px68 spool hold a tiny bit more line, are those hard to come by? And my be a silly question, but will one fit into a regular silver Pixy Liberto? Yes, it'll fit ...
