Re: Entry level Ajing rod for 1/32-1/16oz hair jigs?

Just to provide a bit more concrete answer I did a little casting test this morning just to get some real numbers for you using the 5' aji-do rod. I put a .85g trout magnet on with some new 4lb test original stren on my soare 500s reel using the MC rod and proceeded to do some casts and measure out...

Re: Entry level Ajing rod for 1/32-1/16oz hair jigs?

Interesting, I didn't think the line diameter would be that restricted. I was planning on getting a 2000-ish sized reel with a shallow spool to help with line management but it sounds like it will not be enough. Outside of the line issues, do you all think that an ajing rod will work for what I am l...

Entry level Ajing rod for 1/32-1/16oz hair jigs?

Hi, I gotten obsessed with little fur/feather jigs and have been teaching myself how to tie them. I have a SJR 6400 IMX/Stradic 1000FJ/6lb Mono combo that I love for the bigger 1/8oz heads but it's not great for the lighter ones. I have been looking at getting an cheap ajing rod to throw the smaller...

Re: (A true search for 1) Loomis 4power rod alternatives

I thought the fmj was broom sticky. Like 1/2 power heavier than loomis 4's. I sold it I would agree with that. I have a 844c and a FMJ and the FMJ has a clear power advantage over the Loomis. The 844c has a softer tip as well so the two of them make a great pair, the FMJ for jigs and the 884c for p...

Re: SV Boost in older 34mm platforms

Have you tried anything with a fixed inductor? I've found that the 34mm KTF Neo plays well in most everything, even reels with weaker magnets. Super consistent and never feels out of control. No, but only because my ZPI PG will not fit in the Ringa. It's an issue I had with the stock sv103 spools, ...

Re: SV Boost in older 34mm platforms

I just got a Boost spool and stuck it in a Ringa SSS. I love how that reel handles but I have never found a spool, other than a 1012sv, that I like in it. It's only got 10 points of adjustment to the brake so it's harder to fine tune then most other reels. So far I am really like how the Boost spoo...

I feel your pain on this, I love my 72H and use it all the time. I would love to find an alternative or even an upgrade to it.

I found an old Fredo posted during my frog rod hunt. I’d forgotten about the rod I was initially asking about, the Feed Jungle Bash.

As to it’s power, the BLX shorty is fairly close to a 4p MBR, a “Heavy” rod but not a “heavy cover rod”.

Re: Short Frog Rod (for the kayak)

I was looking for a short frog rod a year or two ago and found a lot of options. The first place I looked were snakehead rods from SE Asia. There are a lot of short, powerful rods in the snakehead world and I ordered a cheap one from aliex. It was more or less what I was looking for, but it had a ve...

Re: What BFS "+" Rod to Pair with Alphas CT SV 70?

That being said, there are a ton of rods in the jdm BLX line and I am extremely pleased with it and am looking to invemt some “need” to justify another. Yes! Definitely looking at the BLX line...the lure range they list on those rods seem a little suspect, I'm combing through videos with google tra...

Re: What BFS "+" Rod to Pair with Alphas CT SV 70?

Mainly for 1/4oz jerkbaits like the Rozante 77, 85SP, new xnanahan etc, on 7-8lb fluoro. Secondary would be for 1/8 jigheads + 3" swimbaits, shad type crankbaits like the Jackal Soul Shad and MB IxI, maybe a little bit of bottom contact but sensitivity isn't paramount. I prefer a slightly faster ac...

Re: One Texas rig/small rig jod

I feel like people fish 5' Senkos on a huge range of tackle, from ML spinning rods to some pretty heavy MH casting ones. If you fall on the heavy side then I think a 3-power Loomis MBR would suit your needs as would the PA 611M+. I have the PA and a 783c, both rods are great at 3/16-1/40z t-rigs and...

Re: BEST reel for weightless fluke

I have trouble getting one to load on some M rods. A super fluke is around 1/4 oz. A Zoom Super with a 3/0 Owner Twistlock weights like 5/16 on the nose, but still not very heavy. I think aerodynamics plays a huge role in the lighter weights. A Trickworm weighs about the same as a Zoom Super, but f...

Re: MB Hyuga 72H/Super Red Demon, what rod sits in between?

Let us know what you think once the rod arrives! I experimented with a Steez A HLC and SV103XS on mine and the 103 is the winner. The Black Rose is such a versatile rod that I could probably sell 3-4 of my other setups and be fine with just it. http://i.imgur.com/gHFpL0gl.jpg?1 The sv103 won out, t...
