Re: Any reviews on the 2021 Shimano Conquest vs the 19 Conquest DC?

Had some time with my 2021 CC 101HG (on a NRX+ 893c, 14lb sunline sniper camo). First impressions: this thing is tiny. Like really tiny. I was a bit worried first that this reel would be too fragile. I was wrong. The reel is really smooth, maybe a tiny bit smoother even than my Antares 70. Its a dif...

Re: Steez TW ticking sound/vibration

Ok, no worries. Do you have a 7.1:1 gear ratio? Since you checked already each possible bearing. Did you check item 98 ( not sure what its called)? Its happening with the 7.1 ratio and the 6.3 ratio from my zillion1000 when i install those gears inside the steez. For the roller bearing, yea, its on...

Re: Steez TW ticking sound/vibration

Which part exactly? That would be item number 36. Its the silver long pin that connects both sides of the reel. Can't be the reason in my case since this part can't add any ticking vibration while the spool is under load. Hmm, would you be able to make a video? (Easy option since uploads here are t...

Re: Steez TW ticking sound/vibration

Hi, I had a similar sound with a Steez A that I had purchase almost 5 years ago. Also happened very early in its life. For me the issue originated from the silver pin that is right over the wormshaft that is supposed to stabilize the reel's two side (not sure what it is called). In my Steez it was l...

Re: 2021 Antares DC vs 2021 CC HG vs SLP Ryoga for Chatterbaits/Spinnerbaits

Ordered the 2021 Antares DC. Was a close call between it and the Ryoga (since I already have the 2021 CC I wanted to try something new).

What made the difference for me was the gear ratio, line capacity and weight and cast control in windy situations.

Let's see if I made the right call.

Re: 2021 Antares DC vs 2021 CC HG vs SLP Ryoga for Chatterbaits/Spinnerbaits

I have the SLP Ryoga, I did swap out the cork knobs, I just didn't like them. I have it paired with a Daiwa BLX LG 7ft4 MH, it's one of my favorite do everything combos, this and a ML spinning rod and I can cover most applications if I'm not in my boat. The reel is not choked off at all, I have 14 ...

Thanks Cal. I am not sure I 100% follow your post, could you please clarify?

Thanks!
Faster reel = Chatterbait

Slower reel = spinnerbait

;)
Ahh! Now your post makes sense
Thanks!

I prefer a quicker retrieve ratio for both techniques. I can always slow down ;-)

Re: 2021 Antares DC vs 2021 CC HG vs SLP Ryoga for Chatterbaits/Spinnerbaits

I want a DC reel for a spinnerbait reel to cast into the wind so the Antares DC gets my vote. If the modern Ryogas are like my LIN10 BJ then they have a strong braking profile that should make casts into strong wind a non issue but ultimately feel choked off in pure distance. Yeah, DC reel would ma...

Could just be me but I see the Antares option for your chatterbaits and one of the others for your spinnerbaits due to the difference in retrieve ratios....

2021 Antares DC vs 2021 CC HG vs SLP Ryoga for Chatterbaits/Spinnerbaits

Hi all, I have decided to upgrade my reel on my chatter-bait/spinnerbait rod (St.Croix 7'4H legend elite). I am running a older Daiwa Coastal on it right now and while the reel is decent it is just not as smooth as I am hoping for and just not as sexy. ;-P The two reels that I am choosing between ar...

Re: Rod Ramble

I would throw in the Megabass TS BlackJack.

I can throw with mine (Antares MD on it) anything from a 1oz paddletail to a Dep250. Super versatile, sexy as hell and solid build quality that will last!

Cheers!
