Re: What Questions would you have for a new rod company
What is your warranty policy (including whether you will reimburse customer shipping within the warranty period if a returned broken rod is determined to have had a factory defect)?

Re: leader for bass, walleye, pike
I heartily endorse both posts from Randingo. It was very nice of him to put in all that effort to his clear explanation and its supplement.

Re: 2023 Daiwa Tatula MQ LT Spinning Reel
Thanks!
Interesting info. Since the deep-spool 2500 size holds considerably more line than the shallower 3000-CXH (the one without the D), those two different sizes are probably even closer in weight when spooled with line.

Re: Replacements
Happens all the time in waters containing muskies, pike, or pickerel, but you probably don't have them in CA. A big turtle with sharp-edged jaws, perhaps?DarkShadow wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 10:50 amI looked at the end of my line and it looks like it had been cut clean with a pair of scissors. No pig tail at the end, no knot failure.

Re: 2023 Daiwa Tatula MQ LT Spinning Reel
Daiwa seems to have had a major bungle with releasing reel weights on this model. I have seen three different weights listed for the same size of this reel model on varied sellers' charts. Some, as you found, no longer list the weights at all, perhaps waiting for a definitive statement from the manu...
Re: Vanford
Strikes me as a "that's what she said " moment... I don't own a Vanford. My interest was dampened upon checking out display case models of the 1000 and 2000 Vanford last fall. With both, I could feel the gears meshing as I turned the handles--not really roughly a rough sensation, but unexpect...

Re: I just bought me a new 3.01 cranking reel.
If you take a kid fishing, this reel could save you a lot of headaches! Fishing writer Stan Fagerstrom used to do casting exhibitions with spincast reels, showing how one could achieve impressive accuracy and quiet lure entry with them. One aims slightly above the target, feathers the line by pushin...

Re: Something new I just made
Goodness gracious--great balls of flare!
They look meticulously done, but I do wonder whether the thick balls of strands will provide too much resistance to side-to-side movement to let the blade give the lure shimmy. I hope to see some fish pics in a month or two to shame me over shimmy concern!

Re: Z-Man Micro Finesse
I can comment on early results I've had with three of these baits using lighter tackle (2 and 4 lb nylon mono, 4 lb Nanofil with leader, UL rods). LarvaZ : Surprisingly effective for crappies, somewhat so for bluegills, on one outing. Last October, an unseasonably warm day inspired an evening outing...
