Re: Sunline Defier Armilo
I ordered a spool with the Labor Day discount. Not sure why as I just spooled most everything up with Shooter Defier. Just a step in the justification process to order another reel maybe

Re: Salmon Setup
I use a 8'6 or 9 foot medium power rod when fishing for Coho just for the fun factor. A big Coho runs 15-16 lbs, average Coho runs 8-10 lbs. If there is a possibility of hooking up with a Chinook in the 25-30 lb. range, a medium power rod isn't gonna handle it IMO. I prefer a heavy action rod for Ki...

Re: Cumara 6'8"medhvy black
Yep, it's a dandy for sure. I think I've used it for just about everything at some point, but I like throwing Senkos and 3/8 oz. traps on it best. I have a Scorpion XT 1001 on mine. One rod I will never par ways with!

Re: Kistler KLX or Powell Max?
Anybody have a current coupon code to use when ordering from Kistlers web site? I guess they only allow you to redeem them one time.

Re: Is it Daiwa, Shimano, or someone else?
Well, I spent $369 on the Shimano Calcutta D, and it has major access issues. You have to remove three slotted screws and pry the reel apart (it has loose gears) to access the brake pins or perform routine maintenance. Since I fish in inshore saltwater, the reel proved way too much of a hassle to m...

Re: T3 1016 / T3 MX
Hmm, perhaps I'll just hang with my MX :big grin: Better spool. More bearings. Clutch system which prevents galvanic corrosion of the pinion bearings. If you can get the 1016 for the same price as the MX, I think it is obvious... :-k If it doesn't offer any performance gains or enhancements the cho...

Re: Kistler KLX or Powell Max?
It really all depends on how you like the tip of your rod to behave. I prefer the KLX fast or mod. fast opposed to the Xtra fast action of my Powell Max for most everything.

Re: Hedge hog air bearings. Anybody tried them?
I'm gonna have to try a pair of the standard AIRs in my T3 MX. Wonder if the ZRs are any good. Only 16 bucks, about the same price as a set of 5's.

T3 1016 / T3 MX
I know a ton of info is avail, but confusion still lingers. I have an MX - Dig it. I can pick up a 1016 for the same price as the MX shipped. What does the 1016 offer over the MX other than 2 bearings in the handle and a lighter spool? If someone were to pay retail, or close to, I can't imagine the ...

Can't put much 50 lb. anything on a shallow spool that holds 70-80 yards of 10 lb. test. Kinda defeats the purpose really.mikeysam wrote:Using 10 or 20 lb braid on a baitcaster makes no sense to me.
