Re: Diawa reel opinions
There are also sv103h and xs reels for under 260 on there nib. That's why I went with the sv103. Also I love the og zillion frame

Re: Tatula Typr R?
The zillion would be a better option, but the tatula type r and ct type r can both throw 1/4 pretty well as long as you have a rod with a little tip and not a broomstick. I'd think some upgraded bearings would probably be best if you still want line capacity. If not the diy spool. There aren't any o...

Re: Your most versatile rod?
Okay I change my mind the Powell max3d 684c is my most versatile rod. Took it out and fished finesse jigs, plastic worms with 3/16 weight trig, weightless senko, spinnerbait, buzzbait, swim jig, chatterbait, squarebill, used it ripping a lipless, tied on dt10 and while I could have used a little lon...

Re: Swimbait reel
I have plenty of line capacity on my z and it's powerful enough for any swim bait I throw. Tank of a reel. I also use it for mag cranks, big ledgebuster spinnerbaits, big flutter spoons, and really any technique that I'd use heavy line or big lures. The mag force 3d braking is awesome and I've used ...

Re: Need some help starting out BFS.
I'd swap in an avail, yumeya, or zip spool and add air bearings from hedgehog. For a 100 rod the 13 fishing Australia 6'10" ml omen black would be my oick. Handles 1/16+ just fine and very nicely built, sensitive rod for 100 bucks. Also look into the major craft lines and shop used if possible

Re: Diawa reel opinions
On an all around rod I'd rather have the sv103. Unless you use light braid the capacity on the alphas sv isn't enough for an all around rod as I usually use 12-17lb copolymer or fluorocarbon on that type rod. The px-r would work but I'd keep it on the rod I use for weightless and lighter stuff and b...

Re: Ned rig rod
Fenwick elite tech smallmouth 6'10" ml spinning but sometimes I throw it on the 6'3" medium power rod if I'm skipping docks or trees or fishing creeks and small rivers where I don't have room to make normal casts. I've caught smallies over 5lbs with the ned, it's definitely one of favorite ways to f...

The megabits Gary mentioned would be a great choice. In that price I really like the 13 envy and Kistler helium 3 but I haven't tried them with 1/2 oz

The tatula 100p has a 5.x:1 ratio but I don't think it's available in left hand. Only solution I know of would be to sell your type r and buy a tatula 100p

Re: Which baitcaster casts longest in 1/3-1 oz range?
Haven't used the more than but my t3 1016 is my best on the lower range. The og zillion hlc really shined with 1/2 oz weights. I'd look at the z2020 if you want something that can sling a big bait a mile and be very refined on retrieve. I can put the magforce 3d on long cast and really sling a 3/4 o...

I agree with the ss tournament 700 suggestion. You will never have to buy another ultralight reel.

Re: Best bottom contact rod for under 150$
timsford, I haven't thrown any moving baits on it, just 1/4-1/2 oz jigs and t-rigs. It's a more moderate fast action and not a broomstick, so I would think that either the MH or H action would work for you. You might ask Gary, I'm sure he can better answer. Dan Thank you and I'm definitely gonna be...
