Re: Curado 70 discontinued?

Because a majority of the US anglers want more line capacity for use with heavier mono. They are OK with a small spool in a smaller reel, but a larger reel with a shallow spool isn't that popular outside of TT. Im trying to figure out what you mean by this post as the SLX and the CU70/71 are both s...

Re: Curado 70 discontinued?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the SLX MGL available in JDM only? That technically still leaves a hole in the USDM. Yeah, but Shimano has brought every other JDM name/reel over here, why not bring that too? Xince they are eliminating the Citica anyways, why not kill 2 birds with one stone? They...

Re: Curado 70 discontinued?

The Curado 70 is what I was talking about. The spool diameter is still smaller on the 70 which helps with smaller and lighter lures. Weight is one component, spool diameter is another. Push a car with different tire sizes. The one with smaller diameter is much easier to get moving than the one with...

The 70 is more finesse orientated with the smaller and lighter spools. The diameter is also smaller.

Re: Curado 70 discontinued?

I dont really think the need for the CU70/71 is worth it IMO. With having the SLX available is the many styles they have come out with, why even bother in that price range. Ive had the SLX and the CU70, and I thought the SLX was a better feeling reel overall.

I never understood this thread, and as to why people would publicly burn their sources :-k :-k :-k
Sharing with your friends?

It might not even be a particular something you are looking to buy, but maybe someone out there is, and they will thank you for the opportunity.

Yes.
Do you have a source for them, and sizes?
Honestly, I keep all the usual bearings in stock, and just change them out according to my reel purchase, or whatever my customer wants at the time. driveshaft is usually a 5x9x3, pinion 8x12x3.5, spools 3x10x4

Re: reel deal

I particularly dont care to use a spinning reel, but for the money, the Pflueger reels are hard to beat. Just find one with a metal frame, and the rest is personal preference.

Re: Lews Team LIte Reel opinion

Good reel. Really small, and can cast light baits very well. The LFS platforms have been pretty solid for the most part.

Re: Protecting reels from scratches

I am quite careful and always keep them covered but bobber and egg fishing for salmon and having to rebait every few casts makes it impractical to cover reel every time..... If only i had a third arm! I have heard of a third “leg” but never an arm. :big grin: I am going to sit in the corner in time...

Re: Quantum Smoke S3

Good for you! I'm glad the reel is a winner. I just got the BPS catalog, and it shows a KVD Smoke S3 for $149. Only 9 bearings, but it has a bayonet cover, as well as the externally adjusted centrifugal brakes. Not my cup of tea, but interesting. The S3 is a totally different platform than the PT I...

Re: Quantum Smoke S3

I got some time on the water with this reel today. I took a Lews BB1, a BPS JM Platinum Signature, and a Abu Gen4 Revo S. I have to say, the Smoke was my favorite out of all of them. Casting, retrieving, pitching, and everything was smooth as silk. So good that I went on Ebay again to check out a S...
