Re: Perfect match

[/quote]As for the IP spool, I haven't really compared it side by side but reviews state that it is the same as Zillion J-Dream spool. I have a Zillion J-Dream 7.9. Its spool is the lightest of Zillions (11g) and pretty versatile. It could cast 1/8oz ~ 1oz up baits with the right rods. Casting heavy...

Re: 1/2oz or 3/8oz Jigs...

Depth is the number one factor for casting jigs. I fish the 3/8 down to 15 feet and 1/2 down to about 35. I throw 5/8 or bigger below 35 feet. Of course, sometimes the fish want a slower ROF, which requires a lighter jig or bigger trailer. With flipping jigs, the fish often want a heavier weight to ...

Re: Perfect match

I am looking to pick one of these up in right-handed. How would you compare the stock spool to a standard Zillion?

Re: New Trout rig. 4 me

We do this all the time in WA fishing for trout in lakes varying the leader length according the fish depth. The weight of the sinker can also greatly vary depending on desired casting distance, sensitivity, etc.. You can also use this general concept to create some other unique fishing techniques ...

Re: Little Creeper All American Sunfish

That's a heck of a write up on the creek. I fished the access spots I can get to. Wading limits choices and getting out to fish during a business trip typically precludes access to private water. As a tourist I guess I have to take the opportunities that come my way. As to fly fishing, everyone has...

Re: Analyzing Bathymetry For Bass Fishing!

Areas 23, 20, 22, and 28 are all the types of places that we would fish in California during the winter and summer. The nearest flats and transition routes next to these places are probably good in the spring and fall. I bet the flats are covered with vegetation in your area. They would be hard to s...

Re: Not a rod/reel this time...

You'll like the white on white if you fish a lot of hot areas. The gel coat on my Champion is all white with pinstripes also and my interior is light tan. It's the way to go on Lake Havasu when it hits 110 degrees.

Re: New Trout rig. 4 me

I have started using a Trout drop shot rig. I take a VMC spinshot hook #8 and mold a powerbait trout dough egg on it and a 1/8th wt. all tied with Sunline finness FC. It works well even in streams. Anyone else tried this? I've been fishing a dropshot with the trout power worms and other tiny worms ...

Very nice. You helped me make some decisions with my Matagi order that I am placing tomorrow. Your pictures show their parts better than their catalog.

Westernbass.com usually has a lot of info on the Delta. Bobby Barrack's guide website usually has fish reports and useful stuff also.

Re: Mattlures Dead Twitch line?

Mike Long is a big bait legend around SoCal that throws the big "deadstick" baits quite a bit. His website is mikelongoutdoors.com. It has a few swimbait videos and I think I remember him recommending a line and Dobyn's rod for these baits there.

Re: Line for lunker punkers?

I'm not a die hard braid lover and I fish mono for most topwaters and swimbaits, but braid really gets the bait working quickly on a long cast. We all know how you can bomb an 8" Punker. Fish often respond to a short pause and a directional change around a piece of cover of structure. Braid allows y...

Re: Little Creeper All American Sunfish

I grew up fishing the hundreds of golf course ponds in the Coachella Valley and fishing remote backwaters with a float tube in any place that had fish. So, I can identify with your small water passion. We have so little water comparatively in Southern California that I fear that I would probably ha...

Re: Little Creeper All American Sunfish

With swimbait fishing I really believe it's more about practice and persistence when learning how to fish a certain bait than about having something the fish has never seen before. Find a lure that emulates the bait fish in your area and then fish it in a variety of weather conditions and at differ...
