Re: Shimano Symetre FJ 1000
If your using it to haul in carp then your definitely going to feel a lack of power. A reel that size is not intended for that purpose. If your using it for trout and panfish it should be just fine. I have a saros 1000 and i love it for trout fishing. Im sure i wouldnt be happy if i used it for car...

Re: Pflueger Patriarch spinning???
Judging by the picture of the line on the spool it looks to be quite even and not distorted compared to the last two Pflueger Mgs I tried. That looks like the same line roller and bail wire as the Supreme XT. When I first saw the reel and the new Pinnacle Performa I knew it would be a perfect match ...

Re: Shimano Symetre FJ 1000
I have the Symetre FJ in both the 1000 and 3000 size and I also have the older Sedona 2500FB... I do agree that the older reels are smoother and they have more heft to them... some of the newer reels focus a lot more on weight reduction and other features thus lack a bit of power... I use the Symet...

Symetre FJ 1000
this was posted in the reel section but I should've posted it here first. I've had this reel since christmas and I've only taken it out 3 times. I noticed right at the very beginning that this reel was going to lack power. When I spool a spinning reel I pinch the line to apply pressure making sure t...

Shimano Symetre FJ 1000
I've had this reel since christmas and I've only taken it out 3 times. I noticed right at the very beginning that this reel was going to lack power. When I spool a spinning reel I pinch the line to apply pressure making sure the line is wound on tight. It felt quite laboring just doing this. Then on...

Re: Very disappointed with the new Quantum Smoke
Man! I know the feeling all too well. You spend days if not weeks reading all these great reviews, save up all your hard earned money and finally when you get one, it's like WTF?! At least it's nowhere near as bad as the Skeet Revo I got a few years back. I hope you get it resolved.

Re: What knot do you use to tie jigs?
I don't tie knots that are convenient, I tie knots that I have confidence in and will get the job done. For jigs I will almost always tie a double san diego.

If I had to choose a budget brand then I'd go with Strike King, for a premium brand Lucky Craft.

Re: Owner Hardbaits
I have all of those and I don't think they're worth the money. They just haven't been productive for me at all. I don't like they're rattle trap bait either. I do like the "Rip n Minnow" though. You can do better with other baits.

Re: Actual vs. Advertised Reel Weights
i took both of my Core 51mg7s into a store that sold scales and tried it on 6 different scales they all came up with 5.54-5.56 so that's pretty good for an advertised weight of 5.5oz

Re: boca upgrades
I didn't find any benefits for overall longer casts, but it helped reduced backlash on pitch casts. So I'm gonna say no need to spend the extra bucks on upgrading your new reel with new bearings. I would only do it if your old bearings went bad.

Re: Looking for a review of the TW exclusive Wacky Rig Rod..
If you're talking about the Powell wacky rig rod. I have it and I think it's way tip heavy. More noticeable than any of my other rods. I've been trying to figure out how I could add a balancing system to the butt, but it's hard because of the way the cork is shaped. It's currently paired with a stra...

Re: Chronarch 50MG VS Core 50MG
If you can get the Chronarch 50mg at a great price then do it. I have 3 Ch-51s and 2 Core 51s and I don't think it's worth the extra money to get the Core.

Re: Heavy Swimbait Reel Suggestion
Curado 300/301E or Abu Revo Toro 50/51 would be my choice of reels for throwing 5-8" swimbaits on 20-25lb mono.
