Going back and rereading his post, I'd agree. Some of us just don't pay enough attention to what we are reading.STEEZMAN2 wrote:Pretty sure he wanted to know what to expect out of the reel, not line recommendations.

Re: so, I have a Pixy Type R coming...
Congrats. Great reel. Great wife. I'd have to buy my own on the sly. Been using 8 lb. Elite on my Alphas ito since I got it (last year). Plan on trying 6 lb Elite on my Sol. I'm also looking into putting a Pixy spool into the Sol.

Re: Looking for rod suggestions.
I've been using the Falcon Elite Mediums (7' & 6'6") for cranking duty. Just received a Falcon Cara T7 7' Medium rod that replaces the broken 7' Elite Medium. Wouldn't these rods be okay for cranking? What techniques would you consider them best for? Yes, I've been considering a 734. I think you guy...

Looking for rod suggestions.
Asked these questions on another forum, but hoping a few others may see it here and reply. Will also try to keep post shorter than on other forum. Just received a Curado 51E and have a Chronarch 100B on its way. Need rod suggestions for them. Seriously considering a used Cumara (most likely a MH alt...

Re: Abu Revo Premier cast issues?
Have you found the answer yet? I kind of doubt bearings being over greased would keep a 3/8 oz. from dropping like a rock if spool tension is set correctly. According to the person who did maintenance on my STX, it was packed with grease (he said it looked more like someone packed it with Vasoline),...

Re: $250 or under for tossin light stuff..spinner or baitcas
You should be able to cast 1/8 with that alphas. The rod is just as important as the reel for casting the light stuff. The rod has to be able to load with the bait your casting. Try a light or medium light rod. I have my sol on a gloomis cr722 and can cast 1/8 oz baits with ease. And I have my px68...

Re: $250 or under for tossin light stuff..spinner or baitcas
For people that do throw light (~1/8oz) lures on casting reels, I'm curious as to why you use a BC over a spinning reel? I know there are people that despise spinning reels and avoid them at all cost, but other than that I don't see an advantage to use a casting reel over spinning with light line/l...

Re: A bunch of low end or a few high end
I'm feeling lower than usual after reading this thread. Never had a $100 COMBO before last year. I'm not a student (actually nearing retirement age), but I can't afford the $300-$500 rods and reels either. The most I've paid for a rod was $150 for a used Zillion. Got to use it one day last year befo...

Re: braid for frogging?
I've got 55 lb. Samurai, but picked up it and my frog rod way too late to try last year. Haven't been fishing yet this year. :crying: Also have 40 lb. Sufix Performance on another rod that I've been told would work for frogs in the area where I live. It was purchased for the purpose of using jigs, b...

Re: To all florida bass fisherman, help!
How did you make out with fishing? Wife and I have been visiting her sister the past 3 years. (Haven't been staying for 3 years, only visit for a short time! :big grin: ) We fish small lakes. Brother-in-law likes to keep it simple, 10 inch worms..Junebug usually, and #11 Rapalas. This year I took do...

Re: Switched to Daiwa ... HELP !!!
Daniel, my web friend said he couldn't cast a 1/4 oz. practice plug 30 feet no matter how hard he cast with my Fuego the way I had the tension set. Adjusted spool tension to where he sets it on his reels... and bingo...no problem. Cast great. I'm looking forward to a little decent weather so I can p...

Re: Switched to Daiwa ... HELP !!!
Oh yeah, never over spool. I always leave at least 1/8th an inch from the top of the spool. This is one thing I have learned from fishing many various types of baitcasting reels. I filled the first 3 reels I bought to the top, but upon reading advice here and elsewhere about only filling to within ...

How much is a TD-X 103 HVLA reel worth?
In say 8.5 cosmetics, 10/10 mechanical shape. How does it compare to the HSDF model? Are the spools the same? Weight doesn't bother me (I'm use to spinning reels. ) Love my Zillion 50th. I asked these questions on another forum, but didn't get an answer. Maybe someone here can provide a fe...

Re: Samurai braid?
For anyone useing it-how do you guys like it compared to other braids? It looks a little pricey so I'm wondering if its worth the investment.(40lb.)Going to be ripping 1/2oz traps.Should I consider 50lb due to the smaller dia.to prevent possible wind knots? This very afternoon I asked a big time Sa...
