Re: Need help choosing rod for Shimano Calais DC!
What's the price range you're looking at? There's several good options, but they might run everywhere from $100 up to $500+. Just as a blind guess, I think the 7'7" MH 13 Fishing Omen Green would be a fantastic choice for launching those plugs into orbit. However, any rod should be able to cast the...

Gillette Fusion blades. I pre-soak the face with hot water and make sure to lather shaving cream with a brush to raise the hair grains.
I agree with above posters that soaking the blade in rubbing alcohol is crucial to long blade life.

Need help choosing rod for Shimano Calais DC!
So I've been using a custom G. Loomis GL2 rod (7', 10-17lb line rating, 1/4-3/4oz lure weight) with my Shimano Calais DC. However, I'm not satisfied with the distance I get when throwing 1/2 oz lures. Anybody out there throw lures in the 1/2 oz range and find a rod that they think pairs well with th...
Re: Exo
Unique design and TT gave it a pretty solid review so worth a shot if you're interested in experimenting with Quantums. The only Quantum I really liked was the Accurists.

Re: dobyns rods' really more versatile?
Dude...don't even pay attention to what's written on the side of the rod. It's just a list of techniques that you could use the rod for, but there are many other techniques that you could use it for too. Everyone has their own preference as to what they feel like is the perfect rod for a given tech...

Really great to hear that the Tatula holds up well. I've heard so many great things about the reel that I really want to pick up one for my casual fishing.

Re: Looking for some help/advice on surf casting for striper
I forgot to include my last post that your old setup is probably not worthwhile using IMO. It sounds like it doesn't perform well and the guides might even be cracked which would ruin any braid you spool on there.

Re: Looking for some help/advice on surf casting for striper
I think before you invest heavily into surf casting for stripers it would be best to just do a test run. Pick up a sub $100 combo and some Daiwa SP Minnows, bucktails, Cotton Cordell Redfins, and some Uncle Josh's Pork rind. Go out and fish, keep a log, and see if you can spot any trends. If you fin...

I definitely agree with above people that heat is probably culprit. Hope you're able to find replacement baits that won't suffer the same issues.

I find that different braids have different properties so when I find one that I like, then that's what I use. Could be anything from the coating to the number of strands, etc.

Beautiful modifications. I really like the Tatula knobs because it does give it a more modern look. Just curious, but what rod do you have reel paired to?

Re: Cabelas, BPS, TW User Reviews
Although many of these product reviews by customers are not that great, I really enjoy reading the ones that are well thought out. I've actually found a lot of Amazon reviews on fishing products to be very informative.
