Here's part 1 of a video we released a while back. This shows you how to do it. Part 2 should be on the side column. The reel is older, but the techniques are still the same.

Re: Why doesn't Daiwa face the TWS grooving issue?(with pics

grooves are scratching your lines!!! Oleg, I finally was able to see and understand your solution. As long as it doesn't affect the performance of the reel overall, it is very simple, and completely eliminates the line contact problem on the retrieve at the rear of the T wing piece. Daiwa would do ...

Re: spool weight comparisons

Smalliesteve, Thanks for the explanation. I think I understand now. The low spool weight decreases inertia at startup, so you are able to get the spool rotating with less weight. But you need some inertia to keep the spool spinning during the cast. Once you've made the initial cast, shouldn't the lu...

Re: spool weight comparisons

Everyone talks about weight because it's easy to measure, but the real question is inertia. It's not the same thing. Weight that's near the axis contributes little to inertia, while weight that's farther from the axis contributes a lot. Bearing installed on the shaft or in the reel, as long as it s...

Re: spool weight comparisons

I had occasion to remove my fully loaded (8lb fluoro) spool from one of my Chronarch MG 50 reels. These are my go-to BFS reels, and they throw lighter stuff great. Anything below 3/16 oz and I use spinning gear. Anyway, I put the loaded spool on my digital scale, and it weighed 24 grams. I didn't wa...

Re: Why doesn't Daiwa face the TWS grooving issue?(with pics

Since the few who have contacted Daiwa directly have been given free replacement parts, that would be the logical thing for anyone having a grooving issue to do, to me. It also says to me that Daiwa is confident the replacement parts won't have the same issues, so they must know there is a bad batch...

spool weight comparisons

I posted this in another thread, but I think it's worth posting again. In TT's review of the Quantum Exo 100, they list the spool weight at 11 grams. Since the braking is attached, I assume that includes the brakes. Which leads me to ask, how do you guys actually judge a spool's weight, when some ha...

I have a couple of the Team Lew's Pro reels, the TLP15H, and they are a smaller size. Is the Team Lite the same size?
feels the same to me..
Thanks.
