Feathered trebles on Sammy, Spook, etc. tails?
Not many walkers come with feathered trebles originally and I was thinking I'd try putting some on a few of my favorites. By now, the weather's just about killed any possibility of making my own comparisons, so I thought I'd ask around. I would think adding feathered trebles would dampen the action ...

Re: Braid on a Tatula SV TW
Going to run braid on an SV for the first time. Not a braid fan, bit it is going on a frog combo. Do the SV spools need a mono backing with braid? TIA. Only reason I'd add backing is to prevent slip. Or reduce the amount of pricey braid. Usually i just tie an arbor knot and add about 7/8 of a wrap ...

Re: New 2018 Power Pro
Thanks for the info.
Since there's no easy way to know the hardness of the steel, I'll keep telling my cheapskate buddy to give his guides a regular Q-tip check until he gets a decent rod by Shimano ! Sounds good to you?

Re: Do I need to change reels or line?
You should be getting substantially more distance with the weight range of swimbaits you're describing (providing you have the rod to handle them). Of course, if they're multi-jointed, "helicoptering" would enter into the equation and then the distances may vary a lot. Overall, any option where you...

Dropped the "1" in front of 5.3oz when giving the measured weight of the reel in the initial specs table.

Re: Spro's Mike McClelland McStick 95 Rip Bait
Cal, I use snaps all the time, systematically removing the split ring from lures that come with one. I'm like to know under what circumstances you prefer to tie to the split ring. Maybe I'm missing something?
Thanks!

Any particular reason why you use both a split ring and a snap simultaneously on this lure?

Daiwa's T.D.Popper ZERO has been my favorite for years. Good thing I got a bunch way back when it was produced, since you can't find them anymore. Translucent smelt does the job!

Re: Daiwa J-Braid???
After two months of regular use, this line is now in a dead heat for my favorite with the Sufix 832. Still smooth and silent and just soft enough to cast very well without line wraps as long as I'm careful. Not a break yet with the 15 pound test, including a 17 pound Northern, but then, I don't try ...
