Re: Show off your BFS Casting Reels
Just got this. An old Langly Target mechanical reel. It has very light weight ported aluminum spool and a short handle. The spool and handle free spin eaisily with a flick of the thumb. Should be a fun wall hangar to play with. I want to disassemble it and weigh the rotating assembly. Black Max 3 f...

Re: Any Pixy Enthusiast left?
I absolutely love all my Pixys, the only ones I don't own is a Silver Mica and an SPR.
Am I missing anything performance wise, by not owning an SPR?

Re: Show off your OG Zillion
Only Zillion I've managed to snare is a decent 50th anniversary - low production number. The front chrome nose piece chrome peeled off so that was replaced with a J-Dream nose as that's all I could get here in Australia... Re: Most forgiving baitcaster
Now you guys have me wondering about the rod as well with all this talk about casting etc...
That's so Tackletour.
Thanks for the suggestions so far.
I guess the size of the reel matters as well, especially for his hands. He likes the SV103 a lot, but it is a little taller reel on a rod.

Most forgiving baitcaster
Never really considered this, but which bait caster is easiest to cast for a 6 year old? I have a bunch of lighter fast spools in my line up. So far he has been doing decent with my SV103, but I kind of want that reel back. Any good suggestions of a decent price? I might have one in my drawer,...

Re: bfs-ish rod?
Ordered a Champion Extreme 702C last week. Not as sensitive as the other rods you are mentioning, but at the 40% off price I couldn't pass it up. I love the DX 702C for 5" senkos. You wont be disappointed. Sweet! I've ordered the Alphas CT SV for it. Going to use it mostly for 1/8 neds but if it wo...

Re: New vs old greats for cranking.
Yes, the HLC spool is still my favorite for cranks, casting is done with such ease. I have three, all in red Daiwa 50ths.Fishman5000 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 6:33 pmTrying a Zillion hlc out and moving some other reels around and gonna try a older model shimano exsense dc reel out for frogging and what not.

Re: Rods you bought for one technique that you weren't thrilled with initially ...
This is a good question!
Mine was: Nrx 842MBR casting rod.
I initially bought it for NED rigs, but quickly realized it was absolutely incredible for finesse reaction techniques like scrounger heads, tiny flukes, and tiny cranks.

High quality cork is unmatched, it's not even close for me if I had the choice.
