Re: Daiwa SS Air TW
My SS AIR TW has been reefing bass from under docks and gears are still smooth. It feels like it did from day one. I remember you saying your Aldebaran was one of your smoother reels, but how would you compare the SS Air TW against the Aldebaran BFS for gear feel/smoothness? I'd assume the Conquest...

Re: Any Panfish Enthusiast On TackleTour?
mrpao - I know you were not asking me but, I like solid tipped rods, as long as the tip has a smooth taper into the tubular part of the blank. Those super fast tipped rods scare me and also so not allow the rest of the rod to play the fish as well as a smoother tip-to-mid taper. The Phenix Classic B...

Re: City/Urban Ponds
Not for bass but, I fished an area in Missouri quite a bit they stocked rainbow trout in a spring that flows into a river. Fish are trapped from a wall. Many people fish it. Ultra clear water and the fish have seen it all. I struggled at first coming from Northern Michigan where trout streams are ab...

Re: Daiwa Experts SOS! Bought a JDM Steez CT SV TW700 and think I made a mistake. USDM differences?
I wasn't particularly chasing the best price. I bought a rod from this vendor before called JDMtackleheaven. It all went fairly smoothly. I don't go cheap generally. I'm just trying to get the best reel and I just thought it was what I was getting. But now I'm having difficulty with the vendor. I n...

Re: Any Panfish Enthusiast On TackleTour?
Love catching panfish. Not as much as bass or a nice big trout but I do enjoy it quite a lot. Unfortunately none of my current ultralites are really well suited for the task. I was going to get a couple setups for panfish specifically and then got bit by the fly fishing bug. So itll have to wait.Ov...

It's funny how bluegill are the first fish mano of us have caught and as we get older, we go back to them.DarkShadow wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 12:08 pmA few months ago, I caught a big ole bluegill on a crankbait. So, I went back the next week with 2 pound test and had a blast.

Re: Any Panfish Enthusiast On TackleTour?
Panfish enthusiast here. The last couple years I’ve been doing well dabbling crappies in timber along Mississippi River islands. Jig ‘n plastic has been the go to. This year I’ll involve some bfs pitching to the same covers. That and a concerted effort to locate the ever roaming jumbo perch. The ri...

One of the fun things about UL fishing is, you never know what you are going to catch next.

Any Panfish Enthusiast On TackleTour?
Bass get all the love. I think more than bass, I enjoy catching big panfish. They are loads of fun and provide some great tugs at the end of the line. It's a ton of fun using staple bass techniques for them. Using a 1/16oz tungsten worm weight with a Texas Rigged small plastic like the new Zman Micr...

Re: Finesse/BFS reel for distance casting?
Still waiting for the first reviews on the SS AIR TW. Wondering how the distance is on it. I know the Aldebaran BFS with 7lb FC absolutely dumps the spool with over 3.5g total weights. I saw the Daiwa Japan videos on it. I know it isn't a review but, looks pretty impressive so far. I will be gettin...

Re: Daiwa SS Air TW
I have been more excited about this reel than the Conquest to be honest. That braking tech seems interesting. If it is an "HLC" ish version of the Gekkabijin....that will be sick.
