Re: Hard EVA source
I'm pretty sure it's 1.5". I'd love to find some 1.25" because with all the crazy inlays I do its a pain in the ass that I get black in 1.5, colors in 1.25 and cork in 1.25. Not to mention the inner diameters...

I don't know what black eva you get from Mudhole, but I can only get 1.5". What's the part number for the 1.25b???

Re: Tennessee Handle?
I see wrapping tape around a baitcast reel foot as being a problem. I'd forget that idea and have a qualified builder build you a custom for what ever reel/technique you're fishing.

I agree the 7 series is a bit small for SI on the bow. I believe it does have ethernet though. I'm not sure if the DI works on the US2.

Re: Battery charging questiom
What charger are you referring to? How many batteries do you have? Your "basic" question needs more details.
It's either a deep cycle or a cranking battery. There's no such thing as a deep cranking battery.

Re: guide count question
Jimmy means a spiral wrap. If you're spiral wrapping your casing rods, you don't have to worry about line scrub. If you build with guides on top then you need to keep the line off your blank by using more guides.

Re: Hard EVA source
I get hard eva from Mudhole in 14' sections in black or 24" sections in colors. Some colors are harder than others.

Re: Shortening a rod
I promise you there are blanks available that will suit your needs and out perform your Dobyns rod. To go to all the trouble of buying a new rod, stripping it and rebuilding it is ludicrous. As specially when it's not the rod really wanted.

I've even started using #16 and #20's as stripper guides on my spinning rods with excellent results. I'm pretty anal about closing my bail manually, never reeling against drag and backreeling to avoid line twist though.

At 200+ dollars a blank, I'll deal with someone who makes the rods. + I have a bad taste in my mouth with Kistler.

Check out the. Fuji sks reel seats. They seem to be the new hot s*#t and everyone is asking me for them. I don't know who makes a clicking hood, you might be able to steal one off an old shimano crucial spinning rod. I'd suggest you stick with Fuji for components if you can. Why are you hesitant to ...

Re: Custom Online, Where?
Don't sacrifice build quality and builder reputation for a fancy website. A good rodbuilder might not be a great flash website programmer. Get yourself in touch with Mattman and have a rod built by a rodbuilder, not a programmer. Although Cajun rods had a good sales pitch in another post, I can't sp...

I don't even pick up my first couple of rods now. I still have them, but I rarely use them. They weren't high end, but higher than I should have done at the time. Amen to that. Luckily my first rod (SC4) broke a few years back but I still resent my second one. After 3 or 4 you start building fishab...

I'd check out the new 1.5 power high mod MHX. I hear great things. 7'1" rated 6-12 and 3/16 to 7/16 mag light. I'll be buying one once I'm finished my HM-DS822.
