Re: $730 Usdm daiwa ct sv tw 70

I throw jerkbaits and blades on mine (I got the just-last-month-discontinued version). Caught a high 4/low 5 largemouth on a 3/8 Keitech jig on it this weekend and the handle size works for me. The reason it’s in the finesse corner for me is line capacity; throwing blades in 30 foot water earlier to...

Re: $730 Usdm daiwa ct sv tw 70

Also: what are you fishing for? The Steez CT SV is a great reel, but it’s small and finessy with a shallow spool. It doesn’t really scream “saltwater” to me, even if you’re perch fishing. I’d look at a Morethan PE TW or maybe the Steez HLC. Both are magsealed (even though neither comes with the serv...

Re: (A true search for 1) Loomis 4power rod alternatives

I thought the fmj was broom sticky. Like 1/2 power heavier than loomis 4's. I sold it I would agree with that. I have a 844c and a FMJ and the FMJ has a clear power advantage over the Loomis. The 844c has a softer tip as well so the two of them make a great pair, the FMJ for jigs and the 884c for p...

Re: (A true search for 1) Loomis 4power rod alternatives

I like the Orochi XX better for bottom contact sensitivity than the Expride, and an F6 power is in the Loomis 4-power bottom contact ballpark (i.e. the Destroyer FMJ is a Fast F6 power rod, and I love it for 3/8-1/2oz + trailer jigs). The FMJ is rated up to 1 1/4oz FWIW and does it, I think the TV w...

Re: Graduation

Luckily this TackleTour and I’ve already ordered a PG 6’10” M   So I’ll be able to add my impressions on how it compares to both the PA and Expride soon. Sounds Great.. I hope you like it as much as I do Got it today, was surprised that the 1610M is a two-piece rod with handle + blank. I ...

Have you tried the Reins Bubbling Shaker Worm on this rig? Just wondering, if so, how they compare to the HogFarmer.
I have not, but that looks like a good option to try!

Re: Spinner bait rod suggestions

it seems like a 2 power rod is recommended for spinnerbaits. I have a hard time reconciling this with the jig hook used on a spinnerbait... Agreed, 2-power feels light and personally I use a 3 or 4 power rod for this. The jig hook kinda sets itself on the moving bait and fluoro cushions the blow, b...

Re: Aldebaran 51HG ('15) vs. Curado 71HG MGL

It’s kind of a night/day difference. I still have a couple pre-gen Curado 70s, one 70 MGL, one pre-MGL Aldebaran and an Aldebaran MGL. I used to run a Curado 70 on my jerkbait setup and it works well. Not sure I’d want to use the 70 MGL instead; it’s a great little reel, but feels too heavy to me. I...

Re: Vision 110s and other popular jerks- what water temp equals neutral buoyancy?

I just take Storm suspend strips with me and balance them out at the beginning of each trip. The +2 gets too heavy for me even with no strips, I usually downsize 2 of the hooks and the split rings to get a tiny bit of rise that I can counter-balance at the lake. A rising jerkbait can always be adjus...

Re: Credit Card Compromised at TackleWarehouse

The thing that ultimately ticked me off is that apparently, none of our stored data was encrypted in any way, which is a standard best practice. They must also have stored the CVV security code, which is a big no-no. TackleWarehouse clearly wasn’t following the PCI Security Standard, which you can r...

Re: now that it's getting hot, where do the big bass go?

it's hot here and lots of folks are fishing in deeper waters but, since I fish a lot of ponds that are only about 8-10' deep in the deepest parts (which are pretty small areas), where do they go? I still catch a lot of fish in the shallows where I'm guessing that they are moving in to find smaller ...

Re: Graduation

I needed to know first hand what the difference was between the poison Glorious medium and the Expride medium and the PA med +. From what I can tell now, the glorious is right in between. When you say “sits right inbetween”, do you mean the taper and power? Is the PG noticeable stiffer/crisper than...

Re: Cold versus warm water jerkbaits

110 and 110jr (+1 or +2) in water under 55 Fahrenheit. Definitely in winter water. Make sure you get suspension lead strips and make them suspend perfectly before each trip (just a couple of degrees water temp difference will change the float). Flash Pointer and Rerange in warm water. Vision 110s as...

Credit Card Compromised at TackleWarehouse

On Dec 12, I got a fraud alert from my credit card company. Somebody was making several unauthorized $1000+ purchases in my name. Of course I closed the card right away and cleaned up my record with them. I now have to change payment methods all over the place. It’s happened before and it’s not the ...
