I've been using the FG knot and it casts through the guides fine. I'm sure it slows the cast down just a bit but it's not noticeable. I do this on my Diablo Spec R with 40lb Samurai and a 12 or 14 lb fluoro leader.

As others have said it's one awesome rod, but not the right rod for your use case. You would want to be looking at the Tour Versatile or the Perfect Pitch in that line up. But the DSR is one my absolute favorite rods.

What you're going to need is a high credit limit. Megabass rods are adicting especially the new Destroyers. Check out the Daemos too, I hear it's an extremely versatile medium heavy powerish stick.
