Re: my dream combo
I think you better let me borrow it first - ya know, just to make sure it fishes well. I wouldn't want you to be disappointed in your "dream rod"! I too, just purchased a combo I have always wanted - a G. Loomis Spin Jig SJR 782 IMX with a stradic 2500 - amazingly light, well balanced and cast...

Re: AIRRUS AND KISTLER WARRANY
Perhaps the Loomis office here in Canada functions differently than in the USA as it is a distributor here not the main company. I would say that here in Canada that if you said you broke the rod in a door/window OR that you were not the original purchaser you would be denied warranty coverage. I a...

Re: new stradic FH rough under load?
The one thing that I really like about the stradic is the oil port. Its a great idea and very handy. Its the main reason why I bought the stradic FH over the new symmetry. I don't believe the symmetry has the oil port.

Re: new stradic FH rough under load?
Okay, I took it fishing for 3 hours yesterday evening and it was as smooth as silk, even under the hardest tugging lures (larger mepps spinners, flatfish and rapala jointed shap raps). Caught a 5 pound Lake Ontario Brown trout! So, now, I'm not sure what to do. I Figure that one of two things happen...

Re: new stradic FH rough under load?
Okay, here's what I am going to do: fish with it tonight and monday, and if it doesn't disappear (hopefully the oil I put in the other day should work its way in and eliminate the problem) I am going to see about returning it. It was purchased at Bass Pro Shops here near Toronto, and I think they mi...

new stradic FH rough under load?
Hello everyone! I have a new stradic 2500FH reel (used a few times- purchased end of May) that is becoming sort of rough under load. I placed a few drops of Shimano reel oil on the spool shaft, on each bearing on the handle port (on each side of the reel) and placed a few drops in the oil port to oi...

Re: Rod weight- The great debate
I'm a big fan of balancing rods. My dad picked up my Stradic/BPS spinning combo a few weeks ago, and couldn't believe how light the combo was. He was fishing a lighter rod and reel, but holding a set-up in your hands that will not tip forward or backward when you let it rest on your fingertips give...

Re: Max casting distance for spin: Fast or Moderate Action?
For those lengths, I would go with a fast action. I have a 7 foot fast action ultralight (Loomis IMX SR841-2) and I can cast incredibly far with even very small lures. I looked at the St. croix avid 7 foot UL, but it had a whippy, moderate action that I did not like the feel of. I'm not sure whether...

Re: Best size Ultralight spinning reel
Jeff, I do a lot of UL fishing, and I can offer the following tips: 1. A longer UL rod is better than a shorter one ( I use a 7 foot G. Loomis IMX SR841-2-amazing gem of a rod). Longer rods provide better casting distance and better shock absorption when fishing light line. Modern day UL rods are no...

Re: St. Croix Avid ML vs. Loomis M?
Hello everyone! well I browsed some tackle shops today, and was really impressed with the feel of the SJR 722. It balanced perfectly with a stradic 2500. I am leaning towards a one piece rod after all. I am assuming that for the uses that I am doing, either the 722 or the 782 would be fine (does eac...

Re: St. Croix Avid ML vs. Loomis M?
Thanks matt! I think I will probably get a one peice rod after all - probably the Loomis IMX SJR721 or 722 (the 6 foot length will be a little easier to transport). The two IMX rods I have now (MBR and the UL rod) are amazing, so I might as well stick with the lineup, even if it means a one piece ro...

St. Croix Avid ML vs. Loomis M?
Hello everyone. I am considering purchasing a new spinning rod for throwing small ( aprox. 1/4 oz.) lead head grubs, and tubes for bottom bouncing for smallies here in Canada. I would also be using the rod for small crankbaits, spoons and spinners for trout. I have two Loomis IMX rods (MBR 783 and t...
