Re: Jerkbait rod

Man, I'm 6'2" and I feel small to all the 6'6" and taller guys here that can use 7' rods for jerkbaits. I know you guys ain't sideways jerkin because we all know that a jerkbait loses about 1' of depth for every 4' it dives when you do that.

Re: Cold water/ cold front -fall / winter JERKBAIT

I do well with jerkbaits in water down to about 42 degrees. When the water temp drops below 50 the suspending quality of the bait becomes really important. I like using a Lucky Craft Pointer 100 or a 78 and I can honestly say in water under 50 degrees the Pointer will out fish a Megabass 110 almost ...

Re: Spinning rod - new Tatula or Phenix Feather

BTW, I'm not "cracking" tubes like they do in the Great Lakes, I'm slow dragging and hopping tubes in water that is less than 12' most of the time. You'll be fine with the Feather then, and no issues with hook penetration. I was more thinking about snapping a jig/tube (cracking, w/e) on a little sl...

Re: Spinning rod - new Tatula or Phenix Feather

If the taper on the 7'1m Phenix is similar to the ML, it would be too slow to really crack a tube imo. Shaking, dropshotting, no problem. But when I want to really "pop" 1/6 - 1/4oz jigheads + trailer or tubes, the tip action is too slow on the Feather. I read the review and looked at the RoD data ...

Spinning rod - new Tatula or Phenix Feather

I'm looking to pair a Daiwa Tatula LT 2500 spinning reel up with a rod in the $150 - $170 range. I'm using it to fish tubes for smallmouth and some general finesse presentations. I originally planned on going all in Daiwa with the new Tatula spinning rods but then I read the review of the Phenix Fea...

Re: Putting a Twist on Spiral Wrapped Rods and Making them Affordable – The Riverside M2

Actually, the reason it wasn't put on the RoD Wrack is because this fella who shall remain nameless (*cough-CAL*) has been shirking his duties... hopefully this will be corrected within the next couple of weeks  ... we appreciate that you appreciate the measurables and apologize for the oversi...

Re: Putting a Twist on Spiral Wrapped Rods and Making them Affordable – The Riverside M2

Is the spiral wrap the reason this wasn't put on the RoD rack? I also didn't see any weight listed, and I don't mean this in a derogatory manner, but the review read more like an advertisement than an actual review. I guess what I mean is it feels like that when you compare it to all the other rod r...

Daiwa Tatula spinning rod question?

I'm looking to pair a rod up with a Tatula LT spinning reel and I think I found it. I'm looking hard at the new Tatula rods when they get released, specifically the 7' medium power fast action. My question is about the blank, I read the reviews on the first generation Tatula rods and was surprised a...

Re: Tatula LT vs. Fuego LT spinning

Thanks for the help on this, I've decided on the Tatula LT and as luck would have it, I actually got to check out both reels in person. Yeah, you were right, the Fuego LT wasn't bad but it wasn't what I hoped it would be from reading the specs. The Tatula LT however was very nice and I was surprised...

Tatula LT vs. Fuego LT spinning

I'm looking to get a new spinning set up in the mid range price point. I'm getting the new revised Tatula spinning rod and I'm hung up on the which reel. The Tatula LT is lighter with the Zaion frame but the Fuego 2500 is still light for a spinning reel and is mag sealed and I like that feature. My ...

Re: Power finesse rod

It may be a little short at 7'1" but I think it fits your needs. G.Loomis IMX Pro 852C JWR, it is an extra fast action and works great for shaky heads and smaller finesse jigs and Neko rigs, it might be worth your time to check one out. I was actually looking at the IMX Pro 892C JWR. It seems to fi...

Re: Poppers that "bloop"

Rebel Super Pop-R, it is 3-1/8" long and only weighs 5/16oz. I fish spitting poppers when the fish aren't very aggressive or the water is clear but when I want that "bloop" sound the super pop-r is what I like. The best part for you is that it is heavy enough to fish with casting gear yet is still l...

Re: Old school flat rubber

I did the video on the puffball jig and thank you Big-Bass for explaining that I'm tying at a slow pace so you can see how I do it. Now, I talked to mmarkinma56 a few years ago on Tackle Underground in which I gave you my email and shipping address and you were going to email me pictures and send me...
